At this point I bet I have a picture of every square inch of my truck on this site somewhere.

From my elocker install thread:

Ok-

So your headlamp switch does not have a clear insert that permits the small lamp inside the rear section of the switch to illuminate the knob when the other dash lamps are on?

Oooh, fancy, US trucks have that?

Mine is just a solid black knob, no light. No dimmer function either, which I've heard some 40's have.

Can anyone identify this as OEM in any market, or from some other vehicle?

Looks like OEM Aussie-issue HJ60, circa 1985, one of the early 5-speeds...

Yep it's an aussie HJ60 shifter. It's in my 84 Sahara

OK, with the broken ankle I can't climb the ladder to look in the parts box from my FJ45LV so I had my kid do it. I don't know about other folks kids but mine don't usually look too hard. He found the light switch on the second try but he says he can't find the wiper switch (I'm pretty sure I have one). Does anyone know if it's any different in shape from the light switch knob?

I'll be sending along an old light switch knob and the old PTO knob.

I need a new PTO knob (period correct for the '76 FJ55) and the period correct transfer case knob for a floor mounted transfer case shifter from a '67 FJ45LV (mine did not have the big dash mounted lever like U.S. truck did) as well as a standard 4 speed shift knob.

They are not the same:

PTO knob is easy, that should be the same shape as what Poser sent me and I've been posting up. Skinny, textured top, no markings.

The '67 LV knob can't help with - I don't have an example or a mold.

And the standard 4 speed knob I can do, but SOR has it for $5 cheaper than my prices, and theirs does a better job of reproducing the stock style (with ink stamped metal insert).

I'm happy to take your money, of course, but I'm just pointing out that I'm peddling customized or hard-to-find knobs. For the easy stuff you're probably best served by the usual vendors. :D

x2 on the In-N-Out!!!

My wife is from SoCal. Everytime we go back we have to get burgers there.

I like it. I have been struggling trying to figure out what to label the PTO knob

Thanks for doing these!

Let us know when the 4 spd shifter knobs are out.

Thanks again!!!

Two pics:

a) The quality control department approves of the In N Out knob for Tom.

(also, x2 on In-N-Out Burger. Next time you go, order your burger and fries "animal style" - the fries will look like they're covered in cat vomit but mmmm its goooood)

b) A first stab at the five-speed graphic on the 60-series 4-speed knob.

Also, if you want to order something please please PM me, or even better, email me. I'm losing my mind trying to keep track of who wants what and in which thread. :frown:

all this over a t case knob.....wow

Ok Mr. Dude. That looks tight. Let's get some real close ups on that 5-speed knob. I would like to see how the feel would be on the top (inset, flush, etc.)

Also, and this will be WAY picky, but I'd like to know how the feel of your rubber compound compares to OEM. It's just one of those things... The OEM knob I would describe (maybe via years of wear) as hard, but pliable (you can put your fingernail into it a bit), and smooth and shiny, not tacky/sticky. The amount of light reflecting off of yours seems to indicate that it is not quite as shiny and smooth as OEM + 28 years of use.

Teflon knobs are almost too silky and smooth, and hard to get a good grip on. The new style are too soft and lumpy. The one you made (in OEM) is JUUUUUUUST right.

I assume it has either a plastic or brass threaded insert.
Price? (PM me with the price if there is a rule against posting it here).

First: I too like the look of the In-N-Out PTO knob. Plus it looks like you maintian a top-notch QC Dep't!

Second: I am hesitant to go with a 4 spd knob w/ the metal insert as all the ones I have seen show a long departed metal insert. I think your design will stand the test of time...

Someday, when you get older and have had your Land Cruiser for a while, you may begin to understand it, or perhaps you will sell your Land Cruiser and purchase a Chrysler Sebring Convertible.

Anyone know what transfer case knob would be "period correct" on a '67 with a floor shift transfer case?

Thanks Drew. Got it today and installed it straight away.

It just dawned on me that you should mark these new knobs somehow to identify them as non OEM. I can see MUD threads in a couple of years:

My 2/71 had a flasher knob with an icon of an FJ40 on it. While doing a full restore I lost the knob. I can't find a replacement anywhere! SOR, CCOT and Man-A-Fre all say there is no such knob. I KNOW it's OEM as it was on the truck when I bought it and the PO says it's all original. Help!

See what you have started? :D

Haha, well it should be clear enough if future people read the whole thread... but this is the internet, so one can assume they will not do so.

In that case, THIS IS NOT STOCK: (:D sorry for the bad pic, mailing today)
