'CRUISER Resto-MOD 2.0

After almost two years of having the truck on the road, the urge to tinker overcame me. ...that plus the blown headgasket on the donor 3FE that popped last November. So, I started working on rebuilding the spare I had on a stand.

The long block rebuild is coming along but since the motor was out, I decided now would be a good time to clean up the wiring a little.

I also pulled a complete wiring harness out of a '92 FJ80 for the use of the color coded wire. (Got to keep it Toyota)

I'm also using a lot of the 80's wire connectors as thet are a big upgrade from the old 40 stuff.

I see your OCD (obcessive cruiser disorder) kicked in again... you know they have medication for that now, comes in 6 pack bottles at the store.. I like really like those connectors,

Looking good! I'm interested in which AC unit you decided to go with and why. I'm about to begin the process of choosing and installing AC in my 40 and look forward to your write ups. Thanks in advance

I ended up going with the Old Air Products Hurricane unit, in part, because of another 'Mud member who had positive things to say about the unit and partly because I was unable to get two Vintage Air dealers to respond to my questions.

So far, I'm happy with the quality of the parts but the installation manual leaves A LOT to be desired. The wiring schematic is almost laughable.

Deutche connecters, what are you a Rennlister? The 40 is deserving of some all weather connections, good idea.

I know Lee is busy and isn't on here much, so i will respond. .

Yes he is a porsche nut, and one hell of a gunsmith, his OCD (obcessive cruiser disorder) is very much encouraged..

I have had more than my share of P cars, down to the wife's Cayenne GTS and my race car. I actually bought my FJ40 from a fellow Mudder/Rennlister/PCA instructor.

Amazing build! Read it cover to cover. Very inspiring!

Thanks!

At some point, I'm going to have to attempt a massive photo upload to repair the damage done by the great Photobucket F**k You of 2017.

To kick things off, here's a video that describes what I'm in for as far as the harness is concerned.

I just spent 3 hours trying to repair the broken links to photos I had hosted on PhotoBucket.

I figured while I was at it, I'd merge some of my disparate threads into one so forgive the next few posts...

Here's the A/C install coming together. I opted to hack up my dash because I liked the cleaner look of having the louvers in the dash rather than stuck underneath.
