A/C system - how to remove the cooling unit, evaporator, expansion valve

It's summer and some of us are experiencing A/C troubles so I think it's time to do a writeup on how to remove the cooling unit, evaporator and expansion valve out of a '97 80 series. Removal of the cooling unit is very straight forward, plan on about half hour and minimal cursing :D You...

I did this with both of my ‘80s. Not that hard to do, but you will need to recharge the AC . Totally worth the time and effort, IMHO.

Thank you so much, dude! I only cleaned maybe 30% last night.. Cleaned as much as possible. Still a little dirt/hair deep in the fins. I tried to get it, won’t come out. But it’s pretty clean now.

I used the Toyota evap cleaner, along with the smell good conditioner this weekend. It got the majority of the smell out. I might use a different product in the future.

Here’s what came out, this was after me removing the evaporator and cleaning the snot out of it with water blaster, compressed air, and a blower.
