+1 Thanks. Used this $25 cable: Duokon Diagnostic Cable,Mini VCI J2534 OBD2 USB Connector Car Program Diagnostic Cable fits for Toyota TIS V13.00.022

After a few failed attempts on a PC 64bit Windows 7 (i was unable to get techstream to see the OBD cable with VB or not.. I couldn't get the Xhorse drivers to install) i used a MacBook OS Catalina Winemixer 10.15.5 and was able to get Techstream running on the first attempt.

Had to download this newer version of VB as the link in the first post caused issues installing. https://www.oracle.com/virtualization/technologies/vm/downloads/virtualbox-downloads.html

Getting Techstream up and running can be a bit of a pain. Hopefully this helps someone get started quickly.

Step 1: Purchase an OBD-II interface. One option:
- Amazon product ASIN B06XGB714M ($20, Prime)

Step 2: Download VirtualBox for Your Operating System:
- Windows: http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/5.2.4/VirtualBox-5.2.4-119785-Win.exe
- MacOS: http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/5.2.4/VirtualBox-5.2.4-119785-OSX.dmg

Step 3: Install VirtualBox Software You Just Downloaded
- Windows: Double-Click downloaded file
- MacOS: Double-Click downloaded file, run installer

Step 4: Download TechStream Image:
- MEGA (V2! Click to download)

Step 5: Double-Click downloaded file.

Connect & Enjoy.

Edit (4/8/18): I removed the more expensive cable, as I received a new Mini-VCI cable that works 100% at 1/4 the cost.
Can you put the name of the cable or company, the link is dead, or maybe a new link. THANKS

Yeah link has been dead for a while and Getco hasn't been around for a bit.
Pretty much any OBDII cable, as long as it says will work with Techstream, will work just fine. Plenty of guys here have the cheapo chinesium ones without issue.

I purchased this cable from Amazon, which works great for me: Amazon product ASIN B087CZDF4H
Unfortunately the seller is no longer selling that one on Amazon, which has been causing a problem as of late with people asking for other recommendations.
I have that one as well, but have talked with others (and those in this thread) that have purchased similar ebay/amazon/alibaba/etc. type cheapo knock-off cables without issue.

I have the 12.20.024 it's working fine on my GX470 and Scion iQ. However, I want to program an additional remote key for the iQ and it's not supporting that feature. Do you guys know what version of techstream does? Also, since I'm using this virtual box on my MacBook pro, I'm not sure how to install an updated tech stream. I tried a newer version but it kept asking for a new registration key. Can anyone help?

Watch this video on YouTube, TECHSTREAM not needed for programming of the IMMOBILIZER CHIP and remote for the GX470 and some 4RUNNER.

for some reason this version of tech stream quit on me on a new laptop. lot's of comm issues and lost connections. I think voltage fluctuations on the link.
What has never failed me is an old dell XP and the same cheap cord and a disk version of techstream.

IF someone on here could buy and set up techstream on old XP machines I think you could make some money. I need a new OLD dell!!
I'm not going to reinstall and retry on my everyday laptop, but i will get another dell on ebay. which is a total crapshoot.

At some point I read about setting up a virtual windows to do it. It's pretty easy to do these days. Look into virtual box or vmware

Are you talking V13 of the software? I did notice that it tends to crash a bit more than the v12. I have both so will likely uninstall v13 and install v12.

Mine didn't come with the Key... The text file is empty.

I cannot get it to work.

I'll try later... It's too hot outside.
Maybe see if you can get in contact with the seller and let them know that the supplied software isn't working and asking for a key and that text file is empty.
If worse comes to worse, you can order the software from OBDInnovations for about $15. I did this with version13 but I am finding it to be a bit buggy. Luckily my cable came with v12.20 so I will likely revert to that. Just haven't needed lately as I have been chasing other issues.

I ready somewhere there is a link to the software. I think on the CL site

INteresting... I know that I was doing some research on getting a "cracked" version and there are sites you can sign up for that do all versions of the techstream software (all makes/models not just Toyota) but the few I looked at wanted a $45 membership fee to access the site and then get the software. Figured at $15 from OBDInnovations it was cheaper and while I had a computer with a disc drive, I swapped everything over from the disc that came with my cable to a thumbdrive.

I have been looking the past half hour for it and also a post someone said to get a specific type of cable to get more options vs a cheap cable

Update:
Ok got part of it, maybe add to the original post:

The virtual box links on first post still seem to work.

As for cable... sellers come and go. I will say look for something that has the following in description:

K-Line support
Firmware 2.04

This will allow for live data...not necessary but gives you lots more functionality out of TS.

If I was shopping for a cable today I believe this is basically the same one I got. No.. not the cheapest but it worked.

I couldn't find a cable on Amazon with firmware 2.04 they were all 1.9. I got this one since it will be here Friday and I have an old little 10 inch labtop with old windows. I'll let you know if it works.
Amazon product ASIN B084H75MZ3
Otherwise the one 22Eyunu35VO linked is on eBay but takes a month to get here from China and has 2.04.

Also try the Mega Link in the OP for techstream. Otherwise I came across a post somehwere that has the two latest versions of it. I got so busy for two days diagnosing a leak and putting in a radiator after the crawl control hardware I haven't bought a cable yet.

Here is CL on how to do zero point calibration with techstream. Still can't find the latest software links I saw

If anyone knows of the techstream links maybe we can add them to the OP for future reference
