Do you need another cable and the appropriate software? I have an extra cable. I also saved the software from my Amazon purchase as a big .zip file. PM me if it could help.

Hey everyone, just tried getting my Techstream to work, but got basically nowhere.
This is the cable I got on Amazon - Amazon product ASIN B087CZDF4HI downloaded and registered successfully Techstream version 15.00.026
Laptop is a HP with Windows 7 Pro @ 32bits.
When I tried connecting it to my 2003 LX470 (Connect to Vehicle bubble up top) I got the following screens:

Do I need to be connected to the internet for this to work? I also tried with an internet connection, but got the same screen.
Afterwards, I get this screen:

I am stumped right now. I hope it's not the cable as I live where Amazon doesn't deliver so, getting another cable is going to be a difficult.
Thanks for any help.
Hey Stewfish, I did get my Techstream running and connected to the LX. Seems to work fine. Have not done any changes besides clear a few codes and adjust the AHC pressures (not quite where I want them to be, but...).Attached is a PDF with super detailed instructions that got me connected to the car.
I found all these virtualbox instructions with a YouTube video search
- Installed and ran virtualbox "VB"
- Made windows XP iso image from an old CD I had
-Installed XP from the iso
-Made a shared folder and Connected it to VB
Put all the programs I would need (WinZip, techstream, drivers, instructions, Java)
-Connected usb to virtual box once the directions said to insert the cable.
-Notes: there were some specifics, did all techstream and cable stuff offline. Down in the directions it says not to have Java updated online and don't update techstream or connect online. I double checked each step and it worked. Also make a clone of your first XP install So if you screw up you can then use the clone. To reload all the techstream and cable stuff.
It found the car vin and all the details
I just need to know how to run techstream correctly now.
Getting Techstream up and running can be a bit of a pain. Hopefully this helps someone get started quickly.
Step 1: Purchase an OBD-II interface. One option:
- Amazon product ASIN B06XGB714M ($20, Prime)
Step 2: Download VirtualBox for Your Operating System:
- Windows: http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/5.2.4/VirtualBox-5.2.4-119785-Win.exe
- MacOS: http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/5.2.4/VirtualBox-5.2.4-119785-OSX.dmg
Step 3: Install VirtualBox Software You Just Downloaded
- Windows: Double-Click downloaded file
- MacOS: Double-Click downloaded file, run installer
Step 4: Download TechStream Image:
- MEGA (V2! Click to download)
Step 5: Double-Click downloaded file.
Connect & Enjoy.

Edit (4/8/18): I removed the more expensive cable, as I received a new Mini-VCI cable that works 100% at 1/4 the cost.
Thanks again @getco
Question - when I open VirtualBox - I get a message saying v6.1.12 is available.
Should I upate?
I don't want to wreck anything that works!
Apologies if this has been covered - busy morning so far...

Sorry for the dumb question but I'm using a MacOS and can't get past step 3. It tells me the installation failed and to contact the software manufacturer. Any ideas?
+1 Thanks. Used this $25 cable: Duokon Diagnostic Cable,Mini VCI J2534 OBD2 USB Connector Car Program Diagnostic Cable fits for Toyota TIS V13.00.022
After a few failed attempts on a PC 64bit Windows 7 (i was unable to get techstream to see the OBD cable with VB or not.. I couldn't get the Xhorse drivers to install) i used a MacBook OS Catalina Winemixer 10.15.5 and was able to get Techstream running on the first attempt.
Had to download this newer version of VB as the link in the first post caused issues installing. https://www.oracle.com/virtualization/technologies/vm/downloads/virtualbox-downloads.html

macos is the easiest setup by far, ive tired 3 diff laptops (2pc 1mac) , the mac was the only one that worked
You may be using the wrong version of VB, check post a couple pages back.
I get this same error...

But I think that 15.x version is too new for Win 7.
For all of you who are getting this error... unplugged the USB cable, wait a couple seconds and plug it back it in. The virtual machine /windows should recognize the adapter/usb and install drivers for it. it will then work. I had the same issues but finally figured it out and works great.
Now, if someone can help me get my bluetooth OBDii to connect to Techstream via my virtual box, that would be great!!!
8n the bottom right is a USB symbol, right click and click the cable and it will work. Mine never auto connected
From my understanding, the updating of the versions of techstream really only tend to allow the connection with never vehicles or the advancement/debug of features in the software for the already included vehicles. At this rate, they really aren't concerned with anything that is probably older then 10 yrs for ECU/MCU updates/upgrades and whatnot. So there really isn't a huge need unless you have other, newer Toyotas.I received techstream 14.20.019 when I bought my cable.
I have used the OP downloads(Thanks) so far and it seems to work with my cable and I have been able to connect to my 2003 LC.
First question, Is there any reason to upgrade to newer version of techstream given the age of the LC?
If yes, is there a way to upgrade within the emulator environment I already have up and running?

Im using my MacBook Pro. I can connect to the bluetooth adapter on the Mac but in the virtual machine, there is nothing to select when I right click the usb symbol as you described. I hate to have two cables....
I purchased this cable from Amazon, which works great for me: Amazon product ASIN B087CZDF4H
