I have an old version of Techstream with no key registration required. I run it on an old IBM laptop with Windows XP 32 bit. I downloaded from here: Techstream TIS VCI Installation Guide (64-bit OS) Including All Software Needed! - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum - FT86CLUB

The link includes a publicly accessible DropBox link to the software as well. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/mztf3wrqa...i5qy1xpoa?dl=0

It works on all my Lexus vehicles (2006 SC430, 2009 LX570, 2003 RX300, 2001 IS300). Customize options and all.

Also I'm not sure what changed between my version v9.30.xxx and v12.0.xxx.

Pretty sure that version changes are to add new functionality for different vehicles as they become available. Programming of different ECUs and functions for those is likely what is part of each version and thus handling more and more "model years" of said vehicles and being able to communicate with all ECUs.

Hey everyone, just tried getting my Techstream to work, but got basically nowhere.

This is the cable I got on Amazon - Amazon product ASIN B087CZDF4HI downloaded and registered successfully Techstream version 15.00.026
Laptop is a HP with Windows 7 Pro @ 32bits.

When I tried connecting it to my 2003 LX470 (Connect to Vehicle bubble up top) I got the following screens:

IMG_1647.jpg

Do I need to be connected to the internet for this to work? I also tried with an internet connection, but got the same screen.

Afterwards, I get this screen:

I am stumped right now. I hope it's not the cable as I live where Amazon doesn't deliver so, getting another cable is going to be a difficult.

Thanks for any help.

Set up virtualbox and try windows 10

Maybe see if you can get in contact with the seller and let them know that the supplied software isn't working and asking for a key and that text file is empty.
If worse comes to worse, you can order the software from OBDInnovations for about $15. I did this with version13 but I am finding it to be a bit buggy. Luckily my cable came with v12.20 so I will likely revert to that. Just haven't needed lately as I have been chasing other issues.
I did... They sent me a link with the files... But the VDI file has a virus.
INteresting... I know that I was doing some research on getting a "cracked" version and there are sites you can sign up for that do all versions of the techstream software (all makes/models not just Toyota) but the few I looked at wanted a $45 membership fee to access the site and then get the software. Figured at $15 from OBDInnovations it was cheaper and while I had a computer with a disc drive, I swapped everything over from the disc that came with my cable to a thumbdrive.
There are several sites that you post the software ID and they will give you the Key... I haven't tried it yet and didn't see any cost on the website. I read on one of the reviews from the sellers page.

But I think that 15.x version is too new for Win 7.

If you read the Amazon description carefully, it tells you the exact version of Techstream you need to use. V14.30.023

You also need to install the included patches, and there *may* be a driver needed (included on the CD) for the cable and laptop to talk properly.

For sure you'll want to completely uninstall your V15 of Techstream, reboot, and start over with the software installation.

That's the version I have.

The driver I know I'm missing is the file that has a virus. I haven't looked at the virus file yet...

Work has kept me busy... plus weather has been crazy here... 100F then torrential rain.

Below is the contents of the .reg file included with V14.30.023 from many Amazon and eBay vendors, which could be the one flagged as a virus by some software. BTW, this worked on my Windows 10 Home laptop, I'm not sure if it will run properly on other flavors of Windoze.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\PassThruSupport.04.04]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\PassThruSupport.04.04\XHorse - MVCI]
"Name"="XHorse - MVCI"
"Vendor"="XHorse ELECTRONICS Co.,Ltd."
"ConfigApplication"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\XHorse Electronics\\MVCI Driver for TOYOTA TIS\\FirmwareUpdateTool.exe"
"FunctionLibrary"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\XHorse Electronics\\MVCI Driver for TOYOTA TIS\\MVCI32.dll"
"APIVersion"="04.04"
"ProductVersion"="1.1.0"
"ProtocolsSupported"="J1850VPW:1, J1850PWM:1, CAN:1, ISO9141:1, ISO14230:1, ISO15765:1"
"J1850VPW"=dword:00000001
"J1850PWM"=dword:00000001
"ISO9141"=dword:00000001
"ISO14230"=dword:00000001
"CAN"=dword:00000001
"ISO15765"=dword:00000001
"SCI_A_ENGINE"=dword:00000000
"SCI_A_TRANS"=dword:00000000
"SCI_B_ENGINE"=dword:00000000
"SCI_B_TRANS"=dword:00000000

Copy that into Notepad and save the file as "mvci-x64.reg". You'll also need to dig out the FirmwareUpdateTool.exe file and MVCI32.dll file and have them in the appropriate directories for the regedit to work. Keep in mind this is only for the 64bit versions.

I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY if this doesn't work! I'm just trying to help people get around the .reg file issue since some anti-virus software can be really, really picky. I also can't share the .exe and .dll file. You'll need to buy the product to get your hands on them.

Follow the directions provided when purchased and it has a good chance of working once all of the patches are installed and the directions are followed exactly.

Hope this helps!

My abs Vcs trac controller needs to be replaced. When I acquire a new (used) module will techstream allow me to synchronize the VIN# to get it operating properly?

I believe it should as there is the ABS system controls in there and I believe in the past I have seen something about a reset.

OK, so, I uninstalled the V15 of Techstream and loaded up the V14... that came in the CD and with the cable.
Yes! Got it working!! Thank you all for your posts. They have been very helpful.

But for every good, there is a bad:

I hope this doesn't mean I have to look for and replace the hydraulic pump. :(

Maybe not yet. Do a comprehensive AHC service flush/TBs/sensor heights with the help of Techstream and then check again.

Just had all four shocks replaced and fluid system flushed. This is the first time I use the Techstream software, so the items and fluid flush were done "blind" by my Indy (independent mechanic). They reinstalled the torsion bars, coils, etc. so I figured there were going to be adjustments needed.
No other trouble codes and the AHC system does work.

I will clear the code and see if it returns.

Thanks 🤙

There is a thread that has all the information on AHC maintenance and what not. You will likely have to reset your values to get everything in spec. Then I woudl go from there.

Anyone else get that there's a infected file?

Hu? Are you asking if we "got an infected file"? Setup virtual box so you don't get the virus on your PC, but you can still use the software ?
