Better than my neighbor tonight. Got call earlier, “call FD I’ve got a fire in pasture”
Dropped what I was doing put hose in 4 wheeler sprayer while calling FD. We live in pretty rural area and know there is no FD for at least 25-30 minutes.

Baler caught on fire, lit pasture on fire.

Had most of it extinguished by time two volunteer FDs arrived with one truck and one FF each. Was able to protect all his winter hay for cattle which was on edge of pasture.

Ordering skid steer spray unit than I got to think how cool it would be to convert the pig remnants to a FF rig. I could put a large volume tank on it with good pump and be able to get many places. Enough gpm with good nozzle to protect a structure if something worse happened.

There goes your weed problem
Would have helped, not my pasture though.

Leroy pretty stoic guy and is a stand up dude. Tone of his voice was nothing like I had heard. He tried unhooking tractor with baler on fire. Flames pushed towards him so he had to pull it around different direction but thankfully he was able to save his tractor.

Just home from a week unplugged, first at the ranch with M&D and then the long weekend with friends. 10th year in a row our 5 families have done the weekend together…grand kids are now coming, pretty neat.

The hay equipment going up in flames is not uncommon, bad bearing usually but can just be an exposed rock in the dry conditions.

And hanging at friends ranch too, did some slower “more personal” cutting, first time I’ve witnessed the Northern lights.
Men always do an evening tasting on single malt, 21 bottles this year…we pick a top 5. (Small pours!)

Irony is same day I was in woods with skid steer and brush cutter. My fear was a spark from striking a rock which never happened but few hours later neighbor had his fire.

We need rain in a bad way. It’s super hot and dry here!!

To each his own. I've had one glass of Scotch in my almost 78 years that tripped my trigger. Pretty well known for saying "anyone who drinks Scotch would put anything in their mouth." Now a nice smooth bourbon (especially sitting in @J Mack and Leslie's house able to sample their collection) that's a whole 'nother thing. Couple of ice cubes or neat...either way.

You are always welcome, the current selection looks something like this...

Bachelor this week as family is gone. Sucks when I want to watch a movie no one else would be interested in but stepbrothers is playing with Talladega nights following it. To top it off I’m scrolling through channels and Goodfellas just started and My Cousin Vinny is on also.

Why would anyone ever do this to a guy!!

What a dilemma….
