So, I love all things old, it's why I drive a 40... for the part 15 years I have loved driving this old girl.

However, I recently swapped from my Palm (yup) to an iPhone and I have to say I get a lot done with the iPhone.

I'd like to see how you mount up your iPhone in your rig for tunes, GPS, phone usage, selfies :censor:, or whatever.

I'm leaning toward a Ram mount that's windshield suction mounted or the Nite Ize magnetic ball and socket doohickey that attaches to the back of your phone and the ball hard mount where you want it.

What else is out there? I usually run my iPhone in a Magpul or Lifeproof case.

Here's one for the Lifeproof case

And this über cool one I found for FJ40's... I just don't like how low the iPhone would be mounted. Genisis 4x4 http://genesis4x4.com/page2/page9/page8/page10/page10.html

Ram is the way to go. Super rigid to match your 40s suspension.

I agree with Tom! I don't get a signal in the desert, much of the time, I only carry mine along for the music and audio books I have on it. And it lays in the netting I have installed across the cab, above my head - noise comes thru my earbuds.

I use a ram x-mount attached to a ram ball I put in an open hole in my dash. (RAM Mount M10 Thread 1.5 inch C-Ball RAM-349U) works good for me. Solid mount and can hold just about any phone in any case.

I have the nite ize unit for my HTC One, which is a bigger phone than the iPhone.

Honestly I'm unimpressed. It works great as long as you don't plug anything into it. My rig is wired with an aux jack and a usb charger, and the slight imbalance that the hanging wires cause make the phone rotate on the mount as you go over bumps. Pretty annoying.

It's a great idea and I love the form factor. It might work better with an iPhone, but I wouldn't do it again if I had to choose.

It's held my samsung s4 with otterbox defender case, pretty heavy. Has stayed on my windshield for almost two months now through 90 degree heat(probably hotter in the cab). It holds firm and suctions on like a clamp, just be sure you clean the windshield real nice before installing.

Haha! You sound like me! I'd throw it all out, but I need it for work.

Thanks I'm looking into these now.

Thanks for the real world input.

The Lifeproof one has some good offroad reviews.

Ram windshield mount and x-grip. x-grip will let you run a case. I wouldn't trust it on washboard or dropping of a boulder though.

yup, ram xgrip rocks. it grips tight. i have no problem with it on bumpy roads

I drop mine in the front part if the tuffy console there's a slot there outside of the locked box that is perfect for that.

Mine lives there... No need to see it. Not allowed to touch it.

That or inside Tuffy.

Bought a hard plastic swivel clip mount, removed the clip part and just use the plastic case for mine and use industrial velcro to attatch it to the dash. Easy to remove when youre not driving and it wont bounce around. Used only for speedo app when driving, accurate milage and correct speed is nice on road trips.

Which app do you use for Odometer? My other truck only gives me speed.
