Hey, I'd like to mount a small shovel on the cruiser somewhere and I'd like to see how you locked it up.

I have a shovel and a small axe behind the spare tire, I have padlock through the latch for the tire carrier. I have a toolbox that is only accessible through the tailgate it also keeps people from being able to access the tailgate and therefor tool box.

Don't lock it up.

Wal-Mart has 'mini' shovels in their home improvement area that I use and they are $7 - 10

Typically, I leave some cheap stuff that a thief could steal easily than stuff they couldn't and then they would potentially vandalize my truck. I'd rather replace a $10 shovel or a $50 hi-lift than a $300 tire a dickhead slashed the sidewall of when he couldn't snatch my shovel.

I found that mag-lite brackets fit some of the shovels I've got around.

For the most part, things like shovels won't be stolen... But I guess it depends on your neighborhood!

Get a military fold up ET. Entrenching tool or shovel as U say. I will fit nicely inside and is a great tool. Smittybuilt makes a nice one and it is cheap.

And the regular size QuickFists also work well. I have two on my front bumper holding the shovel in place. They have held tight for the past year and have been stored outside.

That's what I do.

Who would steal a shovel anyway?

I'm mostly thinking of when I park in the woods and head out hunting for hours. The garbage dumping meth heads will steal anything that's not welded down. Hell, if they'll try and steal live copper wire they'll steal anything.

I had a friend who lived in Bainbridge a long time ago. I didn't know that he was a dirt bag until he told me he just spent a weekend in Jail for stealing some ones camping tent. The guy saw the theft and had his camera with him. Ya never know.

But it was a nice tent ...

:grinpimp:

They wont steal your shovel. My friend told me and proved in one of our "classy hoods" that a shovel means work and it will not go anywhere. He was right.

I've had a pick and a shovel laying in my work truck bed for over 30 years. No one wants to steal something that is used for work. Thieves are lazy bastards.

What he asked for My Brothers, Are pictures,pictures:meh::doh: I need some ideas also.
