Very nice - Thank you.

Hood related question.....do you really have to slam your hood to get it to latch?? I had to change the latch catch assembly out some time back because a tab broke off and the new assembly requires me to really slam it as well so was thinking this was normal, but thought I would ask since we are on the subject.

Aerosol Lithium grease on the hood latch will work wonders.

Quick source for parts on Amazon, $34. These types of projects are both my favorite and least favorite. Have almost a grand in parts for other/larger projects on the FJ60 laying around and I end up doing more of these and never get started on rebuilding the knuckles...

What's that mean? (although I agree that leaving it installed is not a bad idea.)
That means that hood struts wear out and need to be replaced. Prop rods do not. There is nothing worse than working on a truck with failed hood supports and a broomstick to keep you from losing your head. The quality of these Chinese struts is all over the place. Some die slowly, some quickly. Sooner or later you will wish you had a prop rod. Just leave it on there.

My gas struts are still going strong after 6 years. I do keep the prop up rod there just in case.
