I used a roto-zip with a fiber blade to cut it from the top. i taped off the hood and covered the engine so none of the metal would get inside. after I cut the hole I put primer and paint on the bare metal.
it took some time, the hood is made of heavy steel (for a hood).. I have no hood flex or shake... good luck..

I thought for sure it would look stupid but it looks fine! maybe it would stick out more on a light colored truck but nice workHere are a few of mine with a Subaru scoop... it provides air for my intercooler..![]()
Could try to source a scoop from an Australian Toyota HiLux. Nissan Patrols also have a similar scoop.

Being that I prefer ridiculous mods instead of mild ones...I'll go for the 04-05 STi scoop instead of the posted WRX one..its bigger.
