While backing up a trailer in the woods, my slave sylinder shat out all the clutch fluid.
And since i carried a aisin repair kit, i couldnt fix the aftermarket crap.
New Aisin unit went in. All good.

Major upgrade on the horn pin contact. Easy fix. -called Plate by toyoda.
2019-07-02 15.23.54.jpg

Shop is coming along... took this photo, showing the two dents of the two cruisers. She followed me into the same mud hole, hit the same hidden pine root, on the same ps door. HAH!
Awning was mounted.
2019-07-04 19.37.07.jpg

Swapped the thermostat and flushed the cooling system real good. soooo much gunk in there, now its all clear and good.
2019-07-06 14.38.34.jpg

Discovered a unused big round connector near the washer fluid res.
Turned out it was a direct fit for the OEM power outlet box that all my 7x series have had.
Nice, it has fused constant, ACC and IGN outlets. Sweet!
2019-07-08 18.04.29.jpg

Wheels were rusty, so i took them off, soda blasted the rust inside and out, resprayed and remounted. Turned out good.
Sill and rock sliders were painted.
2019-07-09 23.36.21.jpg

Above, the 3" exhaust is rerouted, so i could make a full size spare fit in oem location.
Welded an extention onto the crossmember, and a fullfloating hub to that, tilting the tire slightly up in the rear, with still 1" clearance to the fuel tank.
2019-07-10 00.39.11.jpg

Could have shaved a few pounds off this setup by fabbing an amazing mount, but the FF was on shelf, and makes taking the tire on and off a breeze, centering on the wheel. You can see the side dump of the exhaust, will go further back and dump to get it cleaner, adding another hanger at the rear. sound is sweet coming out the side, though.

2019-07-10 00.47.18.jpg

Finished product. Soo glad to have the weight down low, and not having the tire stealing interior or roof volume.

Oh, and while it was up there, i also redid all rear brakes, bellcranks, e brake wire and repacked FF wheel bearings.
Rear brakes are soo smooth now. Also adjusted the rear cable locker.

Awesome!! Lots of progress.

For the alternator, could it be an intermittent connection in the harness that excites the alternator?

Awesome!! Lots of progress.

For the alternator, could it be an intermittent connection in the harness that excites the alternator?

Been looking for issues with the harness, can't find any.
Little to no resistance in the cables too.
Also changed the charge light relay, as that is in the exiter circuit. Nada.
I'm clueless.

oh, my, i got some updates. True or false: The cruiser now has been to the top of mount Olympus, tallest mountain of Greece.

yeah, you guessed it:
True.

Happy new year! oh, well i see i have quite a bit to catch up on here. Not that i need to keep you all informed, but i like having a thread updated, also for my own purposes!

there was never added a photo here from our 2018 Balkan trip!
Here is one, from our camp almost at the top of mount Olympos, Greece.

This is from heading up there:

I loved Greece. We crossed as many national parks as we could, coming in from Bitola in Macedonia. Went old school and followed the stars to meet up with friends of ours in Meteora, mid-greece, in the valley Penenas. This is where the amazing Monasteries rest on top of vertical cliffs, where the buildings date back to the 12th century. So hot, so old, and such a precious area, for me beeing building and history interested. oh, and and Bond was there, when they recorded For your eyes only.

Amazing LC! Just stunning!

Wow, cool trip! Keep it up, let’s see more pics please.

Thanks, really an experience of a lifetime. Pics coming!

Nice rigs ! Did you get those dent's fixed ??

Yeah, travelling in the best manner. The KZJ95 had some issues, though, with shock mounts breaking off, due to no functional bumpstop after adding OME springs. The shock had to take the load, we know how that ends.

oh, the dents? what dents? you mean the tattoos from the 13 countries? :)
Dents are piling up... on my downtime, i only get around to do mechanical maintenance, no bodywork.
Will have to address all of that at a later time. i try to rust-proof the dents though. fluid film all over.

Amazing LC! Just stunning!

Thanks, yeah, thats true!

Well, i posted from Greece, 2018. That was really the point of return for that trip, as we had to go back for work. My girl and I were on a tight budget and running out of time to explore.
I guess I should start at the beginning of this 13 country tour.
Ended up doing 13 000km. i think thats about 8100 miles. at least 20 000 smiles!
The planning started one night at work in the mountains, rebuilding an old log barn from the 17th century. I run this job, hiring in several other skilled guys and gals to get a big job done in a short amount of time. I love what i do, and we lived on that mountain farm for a few weeks, without power and a bad cell service, so you end up in a perfect situation to really get into the job, only working with traditional tools.

Job was nice, weather was bad. Worst month of weather in my life, just rain and cold, in june!
So my morale was dipping, i really struggled to keep good momentum after a long time in the mud.
One of the last nights, my handbrake and I discussed what to do for vacation. We had no plans, intending to roam and explore our region, north of the Arctic Circle.
But weather was bad, and forecasts were worse. Before we fell asleep, we decided the
Land Cruiser should just take us to new places, calmer weather, warmer seas. So south! and maybe a bit east.

DSC_2828-EFFECTS.jpg

This is first sight of sun, after going south for 8 hours.

So, job was done, we unpacked the cruiser af axes, chisels, wet sleeping gear and such.
Did an oil change on the cruiser, and set off. Only one night at home, and we were off! I had so much overtime at
work, so i had to calculate how long i could be gone. About 5 weeks turned out to be the max, as another job had to start up!

I had noticed my rear diff was making more sound than normal, a open diff that was in place of the oem cable locker diff, that one also needed service. I had new gear oil on everything, but i figured i needed a spare to feel good.
First stop was tracking down another cable locked diff with the same 4.1 gearing. Challenge accepted.
That route did not follow the intended good-weather route, more the opposite.
So we got stopped at the first bridge, could not pass due to heavy winds. As we were stranded on the wrong side of the bridge, we got to plan a bit ahead. First go west to Lofoten to pick up a good diff. then go back, and east to the swedish coast for better weather.
After a few hours the bridge opened, and I was afraid the rtt would blow off the cruiser as we passed the bridge.

-insert picture of me unbolting diff from donor-

Sorry, I had not noticed you posted that a few months back. I was just gonna say a good paintless dent repair guy could fix those dent without painting , pretty sure.

no worries. I do have a few of those. But i'm not spending anything on bodywork yet, as i get so much body contact on the trails i find myself in. Well, i would spend it, if i had it. But if i have to choose between diesel or bodywork, it will be spent on diesel! :)

Would love to do a cosmetic upgrade, there are some bad dents, and cracked bondo... hate it.
But hey, they dont get me further, and in the thickest of bad neighborhoods in the slum of Albania, i think having a shabby rig is an advantage.

Heading from Lofoten down Sweden, only stopping for food and sleep.
This is our on-route dinner setup:

IMG_20180629_215301.jpg

Quick setup, nice beef dinner as the sun set after 8 hours push south.
We continued long into the night, as we locked ourself onto a ferry from Rødby, Denmark to Puttgarden, North Germany.
Only stopping for a 3 short naps, we did the 2600km stretch in 38 hours, including getting out the diff in Lofoten.

Crossing the long bridge Øresundroen from Malmø, Sweden to København, Denmark.

Safe and sound, arriving Puttgarden, Germany, driving off the ferry... wich also carries the train over the ferry.

It was sooo nice, just a few days after i was working in the mountains, dragging trough mud and rain, to be leaning back,
in warm weather, by a lakeside campground in Rømnitz. We checked in late the night before, just south of Lubek.
We wanted a camp with a shower, and a slow morning.
Of course, we prefer camping in the wild, but some days its just nice to have a proper shower, before and after bed.

IMG_20180701_101629.jpg

We still had no serious plan, where to go, what to see... But i've always wanted to see the landscape around Dresden, so off we went.
Cruising through Berlin, we aimed for the river Elben, and followed that east trough Dresden, Pirna and the beautiful area in Rathen.

IMG_20180701_195747.jpg

This area is a part of the Saxon Switzerland National park, and we could have spent way more time there, taking in all the
beautiful landscape and history from this region. There are some 400km of hiking trails, so we went about and explored for most of the day.
IMG_20180701_201157.jpg

Overloooooking the river Elbe.

IMG_20180701_202040.jpg

The Sandstone mountains in Bastei, and me checking out the old bridge from 1851.

IMG_20180701_203032.jpg

Fron this lookout we could point out our next destination going east.
This NP crosses the border from Germany to the Czech Republic, so we followed the river up the mountains, heading for a campsite in the middle of the night, again.

Oh, one more from Bastei... That area is just wild.
IMG_20180701_202805.jpg

IMG_20180701_211412.jpg

At another crossroad... we ended up going towards that little height in the background, Napoleons height, he had his lookouts there.

Breakfast of champions in Czech side of border. I think the ducks smelled the bacon, or maybe the eggs!
IMG_20180702_085612.jpg

This primus burner in the right drawer is what we use if we need more than one burner, or when we cook around the Cruiser.

After some countryside exploring, talking to farmers and finding a nice route, we drove trails trough the forest, looking for an old
water powered paper factory, that had been turned into a campsite.
IMG_20180703_122753.jpg

And we found it! Is was a really nice place, ran by a dutch couple and a three-legged dog.
IMG_20180703_122352.jpg

Nastarepapirne, that camp shoud be checked out for anyone looking to relax in the woods.
It's about half a day though the woods, going south from Prague to the South Bohemia.
They had a really good local beer, Dudak, that i fell in love with.
We gave them some of our Norwegian beer.
IMG_20180702_211038.jpg

And the happy threelegged dog was eager to hang out with us
IMG_20180702_212043.jpg

IMG_20180703_105457.jpg

So we camped there for the night. They had good pointers for us, what to see in the area. They asked, where are you from?
-Northern Norway, we replied. -oh, we never had Norwegians here before! Where are you heading?!?
-Don't know, we replied. They thought is was super wierd that we did not have a plan.
But hey, thats how you find en old abandoned paperfactory made campsite in the middle of the czech woods.
Thats how all the good s*** happens! :) And we would love to go back to Harry and Hetty, love to meet them again.

Next, we headed further south, checking the forecast and UNESCO's world heritage site.
Letting the two sources be combined, you'll find yourself in the most amazing parts of this world, in good weather.

IMG_20180703_171940.jpg

That way, we ended up in Tabor, Pisek and Ceske Krumlov, a city and castle from 11th and 12th century.
Pictures dont do it justice. So i only took a very few private ones.

Next, we wondered where to go... So we wanted to see alps.
Me and my warm blood reaching the boiling temperature, with no AC in the 61, had to search for rivers to calm me down every one or two hours, like if you had a black dog in on the tour.
We were in the right spot, it seemed, cold ice-melted water from high Austrian mountains.

IMG_20180704_144317.jpg

A good way of getting the lay of the land, for finding cool routes, is checking out (not so) dangerousroads.org in the region you're in.
There's not really many roads that are dangerous, site should be called "scenic or winding routes that dont seem like an obviousroad.org"
Anyway, we checked that site from time to time, and boy did Austria have many nice routes plotted in there. High, lowes, countryside, peaks and everything in between. We loved it.

We went through Linz and Steyr, bought some amazing tint film for the cruisers windows.
Got my beard tamed into summer-mode, and went for mountains.
IMG_20180704_164311.jpg

Some roads under mountains.
And some up and over them.

IMG_20180705_154713.jpg

ooh, i loved Austria. It was almost like beeing home, but in nicer weather.
Things are quite expensive, so that's also like home. Will definately come back some day.

So, this is the rough route, to the Adriatic Sea, plus a few exploring kilometers.
-In Austria, we decided we were soo close, so we should go dip in the Adriatic.
We reached the sea at day 8, starting from home.
Wait, what? we pinched ourselves, thinking.
This 12HT is so amazing, everything is just running soo smooth. Maybe we should go to Portugal? or Uzbekistan?
We had close to 30 days left.
Anyway, to get to the Adriatic, we stumbled into an unknown country called Slovenia.
Knew nothing about it, but looking from the mountains of Austria it looked pretty nice, so on we went.

Skjermbilde 2020-01-09 19.33.02.png

We ended up going through the Triglav National park, the highest mountain pass in Slovenia. It blew us away.
Such clean water, tidy homesteads, staggering mountains, kind people, tasty food and lovely nature.
Blown away, we decided to camp in the national park, next to a river coming from one of the many glaciers.
Why didnt we know anything about Slovenia from before? Only thing i knew it was part of Jugoslavia until 1991.
Dont get me started on the beer and the white wine! HAH! -it was super cheap, beats me, like a tenth of prices in Austria.

IMG_20180705_165921.jpg

Entering the Triglav NP, we had to check out the light green water.

IMG_20180706_153313.jpg

Lots of locals enjoying the icecold rivers.
IMG_20180705_170854.jpg

IMG_20180705_175740.jpg

That night we set up camp on the riverbank, in the NP. Water was so clear, you can hardly see it.
We had a delicious dinner, pasta with several sorts of sausages. One of my top 5 camps ever. Slovenia!

More from Slovenia.

IMG_20180705_160605.jpg

Close to the top of Triglav Pass

IMG_20180705_144310.jpg

Coffe break at kranjska gora, taking in all the 16 peaks you can see from that one place.

IMG_20180705_152145.jpg

Staring into a mountain lake, with locals on the other side.

IMG_20180704_171425.jpg

Staying cool in a glacier river. Again. Considering adding AC. But would i stop as often with AC?

IMG_20180705_155229_1.jpg

One of the many beautiful views.
