I want to paint the bezel on my faded red fj40 an off-white. Cool Cruisers has color charts here. I'm terrible with color - I always end up hating my choices. So I'm looking for input. Should I just go with lily white on the 64-67 chart, or should I consider one of the many whites on the 68 to 69 chart. My rig was given a quick and dirty paint job years ago where they painted everything, including the turn signals, but didn't bother to dismount anything.

A close match to the OEM Cygnus White out of a can is Duplicor Wimbledon White. As seen below, the top bezel is painted Cygnus by a Toyota Body Shop and the bottom is Wimbledon by me. I think I went back and put a couple coats of clear on the Wimbledon and it darkened it up a bit.....

Paint white to match the roof. It’ll look great. You could even rattle can it yourself. Using a clear over the top will help it last.
Great looking cruiser btw.

To roof/top is getting redone this summer. So I can pick the color.

Thanks for the Cyngus white pictures, that's useful. I'll go down to the auto paint store and look through the duplicolor options. How did the clear go? How many coats of the color?

Here's Toyota 033 white with a stark white nintendo wii controller for reference.

a bit overboard, but I had the 033 custom mixed in a 2K spraymax rattle can. The Spraymax cans have a built in hardener pod you rupture before shooting. I wanted to use durable 2 part epoxy or "single stage" but didn't want to use HVLP for just a bezel. So I ordered a custom mixed can from Auto Touch Up Paint | Buy Car Manufacturer's Factory Paint
They can mix any Toyota color. IMHO many of the Cygnus I've had mixed has a bit of a green hue. Lots of folks use Cygnus though.

So, I went down to my local auto paint supply store to get a can of Duplicolor as close as I could get. And, to my surprise, he moved me around to the Rustoleum single stage paints - same as you can get at home depot. He said Duplicolor doesn't make many 'single' colors any more and for what I wanted to do - just the bezel, that the Rustoleum would be better. so, that was a surprise. So I bought one that I think is too off-white - too tan, but then, as I said, I stuck at color. I'll spray it up and post it when I'm done and we can all debate if it looks right or not.

I forgot to mention my 68 toyota parts catalogue did not list a color for the bezel, I painted mine the shell ivory to match the top. My local BASF shop found the paint code and mixed it up as Limco Supreme Plus.

It looks good I think. I used Rustoleum also and I found that It looked better with the addition of clear top coat also by Rustoleum

My top, wheels and bezel are all done in Limco Shell Ivory.
I will politely disagree with the comment above about a "crisper" white. If the white isn't "creamy" I don't like it.
Bright white doesn't look vintage to me. Just my opinion. I'm no purist. I just generally like the off-white better on these trucks.
@workingdog I think your new bezel color looks great.

Like the stance of your rig. What tires and suspension kit do you have? Stock 40 axles?

Love that color with the green. I agree on the off white on vintage rigs like a 40.

37" tires on FJ60 axes. Still sprung under. OME springs. The tires rub. 35's looked too small. 37's are a little too big.

So, I decided to go a light tone on the bezel, this is Heritage White from Rustoleum. It's a lot whiter than what I used, but still very much an off white. I put it on the stock white gel coat on my top and it's quite a bit more tan.
