HELP! Cruiser died yesterday saving my wife's life, I need a new one ASAP!!!

Don’t give up that easy man!!!! If I lived in the Aspen area I would think it was the ultimate DD, second to two wheels of course. What is he looking at as a commute 20 miles round trip worse case? Not like he's commuting down I-70. Just thinking about a Daily drive over Pearl and Taylor once or twice a week 3-4 months out of the year in that thing brings a big smile to my face, I could sacrifice the remaining 8 months to the wife.
Two conditions, wife takes driving lessons for vehicle without ABS in snow. Colorado should make this a law for all non natives anyway! Second sell the truck for a 92' Camry. Problem solved.
As hard as it is to say I would pass on a Diesel 80, high altitude and the weather. I will probably never give up the 80 but the blue 100 seems like in this would be the ideal situation no doubt about it!
Who knows, make a deal to leave your name and number on the rig and hope for some wealthy clients rolling into town with some $$$$ may want one for them self. Everyone wins!!!!

I sent him the details of the truck on a PM. Maybe it would work for him. Who knows. It is an attention getter, however that truck is really for someone that wants to wheel it pretty hard and do not care about the body. It does have a full cage it in so the kids would be pretty safe.

I like the way you think.
I've already pitched the idea to the as well. Right now her only concern for a vehicle is one that would WIN in a crash. Since we haven't had much snow yet, the Blueberry could probably still take Taylor Pass (with chains). That would be fun! After all, why take a snowmobile when you can enjoy a heater and some tunes inside a LC.

That cage is sweet! Did you and your guys fabricate that? I see it goes down through the dash? To the firewall or on through to the floor pan? That is an amazing install. It looks very tight and appears to retain functionality of everything. Even the sunroof.

There was a SC'ed '96 on the sf bay craigslist for $8500ish. Didn't even have high miles. Long drive on premium gas but Cali rust free.

My 2 cents might only be worth a penny because I am crazy enough to fix just about anything. But for my bet, I would repair that truck. I have repaired much worse, for much less gain. Yours is a Land Cruiser, not a Sentra, Camry or other dispose-a-car. When I bought mine, the roof and left side were crushed beyond recognition! It was a total loss by insurance standards. But in this club we do not allow a solid 80 to go to salvage without a fight! I bought and rebuilt the truck, and I have driven it every day since. It is one of the best vehicles that I have ever owned.
If you do not have the desire to repair your truck, please try to find a club member who will do the work to put it back on the road. A good truck deserves to be rebuilt.

The PS framerail was bent (engine askew in bay) from hitting at that angle. A burly bumper would have saved it, and for that I apologize not giving her what she needed.

It was just towed away Wed. morning. I hope to have everything settled up with the insurance company within a week. After that, I need to get my ass in a new (used) Cruiser ASAFP!

Good News!!! After many feable attempts to remove the sliders from the frame rails, they were finally sawzalled at the legs to be tubed and fitted to new feet in the future.

Lastly, my roof rack looks very sad in my carport without a home.

Sorry to hear this, but I am glad they did that. A lot of people see a wrecked 80 like that and think it is a easy and cheap fix. Having done that, I can assure you it is not. Front end parts are not easy to find used and pretty costly at that. Once you buy core support, headlights etc etc, you rack up the $'s pretty quick.

No bumper would have saved you in that wreck. If anything more of the force would have been sent into the frame rails and down the truck. Who knows what would have been bent and damaged. The truck did what it was supposed to do. Collapse and save the people inside.
