Does anyone know what type of oil I should use in the engine? It looks like it's a couple of quarts low.
Thanks.

Hello All,
Who do I contact to order a couple of more shirts?

Upstate Cruisers and scroll down to the bottom. UC is taking orders!

I know you said there were some leaks - how bad are the leaks? Larry Downey filled the oil in your 2F and I'm pretty sure he put enough in. I even remember him pulling out a second 5Q container to top off the motor. What does the oil look like on the dip stick? How much oil is leaking? Can you snap some pics?

I would think 10w40 Castrol GTX would be good. Your motor is tight enough that you shouldn't need to use anything thicker (20w50). These F motors like conventional Castrol GTX.

Does someone from Georgia Cruisers have an hour or so to check out the 40's oil leaks?

We have a cruiser Meeting Tuesday I'll ask then. The winners of the Rescue Tellico cruiser raffle are flying in from Chicago to take possestion. come check out the meeting James. I'll see if Oscar wants to drive up before the Meeting. No promises because he is very busy building a business. Pm me some phone #'s and James address. Also what time does school let out? or when is your next day off? We need oscar to get a look at the overall condition of the body for the next build anyway. the Dog

I plan on attending the meeting tonight. I'll be in the 4runner not the FJ. I need to find the bolts for the top, it's not that secure, before I make a long trip. I'm not sure if Jared and/or Jean will be with me. I might be coming solo.
Pat and Jason came over last night for some additional footage. It was good to see them.

Hello James, Do you mean the bolts that bolt the hard top to the 40 tub ??? I put all those in a plastic bag and wrote Hard Top Bolts on the bag ??
Also tell Jean I am doing OK I have only burned one pan cooking the Grits she gave me :bounce:

Steve,

A couple things to add to the list.

1. You might get an OEM passenger side rear motor mount bolt and castle nut as well. It currently has a nylock nut on it.

2. Thinking more about the rear drive shaft (It is binding at the end towards the rear dif.). I think the problem is really with the flange yoke (the small cast piece that attaches to the flange on the rear dif), it was pretty chewed up and the u-joint bearing was only binding when it was fully pressed in. I would recommend replacing the flange yoke, when you replace the u-joint.

Hi Guys,
The "boot ring". It was with the shifter boot. The boot and the keeper ring has been installed to the ring. I haven't bolted everything it to the floor yet. I looking for the bolts.
The speedometer is working either.
I realized I haven't mailed all the tools back yet. I'm working on it. The PO closes before I get home and they close early on Sat. I've missed 2 Saturdays due to ball game duties at school.
Trollhole, and landcrusher909. I still have stuff to mail to ya'll.

James,
Any thing new to report on the fluid levels? Plus, do you still have concerns about leaks? Thanks

thought they put all new gaskets in that engine?

ACC did install a ton of new gaskets, along with powdercoat about every possible piece they could, donated a 3 speed tranny, delivered the motor, plus wrenched for a complete day.

Sometimes leaks can spring up after a motor is installed, or we could have wacked something installing the 2F. I'm waiting to hear back from JamesR on where the leak is - I don't know anything else yet. Heck, it could be brake or diff fluid with all the work we did.

very true... I am also interested in what is leaking... hope it is an easy fix... heck a new gasket is not much... but might be work to get them in now that the motor is in :crybaby:

Acquire and install alternator adjuster

Modify donated door limiting straps to work

I have a late model 2F alt bracket that has the bend at the end for the adjustment bolt. It is powder coated and ready to go.

What about the alt bracket alone?

My limiters were for 74-84 models only, there is no way those are going to work. If they can be sent back I will see if I can the early set or see if anyone will trade?

JamesR has the door limiters. James - can you ship those to Shane?

Troll - will the alt bracket that Shane has work?

Please post the next gathering date on page one when you get it figured out.

Thanks.

Great job fellas. Hard to swallow in one sitting, had to check out and come back a couple times. Easy read on the eyes but heavy on the heart.

The UC BoD will need to decide with JamesR on the next date. If we can get that done fairly soon we will hopefully have a full auto garage with lifts to work in.

Also something else kinda cool is in the works. The word is out there, ya just gotta put two and two together to get back to this thread. :grinpimp:

By the way, we have the order form up for you to order a shirt if you missed getting one the first time. Go to upstatecruisers.net/store and you can pre-order your shirt for the second run.
