hey, so should i put a spreader above the dash like i originally was going to have it?

heres some more pics. one fender is done. other one is waiting for paint, but was getting chewed on by the 'sqeeters :(

gonna mount the fenders, put the front grill on, and make some new mounts for my aluminum radiator. the stock one is s***, and im going to use the fenders to hold the radiator now, instead of the struts and other crap.

Very nice. Love the job on your steering! Looks like you're making a John Deer Tractor. Great job!

What made you decide to put the skins on the fenders like that, instead of on top of the tube?

They look good, keep up the good work and post more pics. I have a set of the metal tech fenders in my garage waiting for me to install them. Were they hard to put on?

well, heres the deal. i said i was gonna buy these, and after a few weeks went by, i purchased a tubing bender with a business partner. so now, i had this bender, and i was obligated to buy the fenders. no biggie. they didnt exactly fit correctly though, the peice that welds on the plate wasnt long enough, so ill have to extend them. i had a hard time getting the sheetmetal to form inside the tube, and bend, on a contoured line, so yea, they took a little time to massage, and i also modified them when i figgured out they wernt going to fit correctly. ill throw some pics up tonite. hopefully both fenders will be on, and the grill will be in place. now i can start fabbing up radiator mounts for my bling aluminum radiator.

come on come on! gimmie some support here! :D i need some motiviation, so "constructive critisism" and telling me to get my ass in gear works!

i want to get this thing going!

up to the minute updates :D

these BBCS shocks seem too big. im gonna get rid of these and get some resivour shocks. i need to get it going first, so i can flex it and see what type'a flex im gonna get. i cant have any more than 4 inches up travel, cause the tie rod is gonna hit the frame. unless i section the frame to clear the tie rod

i ordered up some tabs to be able to unbolt the fenders for whatever reason. (best one i can think of is when i do a V8 swap so i can sit on the tires to work on the engine.)

more

got the bibs hacked to fit. i need to get the welting on there, but that will be the very very VERY last thing i do.

i need to source some allen stainless bolts. im replacing all the front sheetmetal bolts with stainless stuff. its nicer, and wont rust. currently im buying everything from the local ace hardware, i think its time to buy a box of 100 or something, so i dont have to keep going back.

the craptastic radiator assembly im ditching

more!

so i had these radiator mounts floating around from my lightning when i replaced the heat exchanger for the intercooler.

so i hacked the original mount up and set these in there. i need to make a cross bar that goes from both fenders so i can clamp the top of the radiator down now.

really cant do any more on the fenders till my tabs come in so i think im going to work on the front bumper

i like it man...glad to see you're back up and goin on this thing.

what's the story on the steering column? i like how bare bones it is...

what you see is what you get on the steering column. turn signal switches will be mounted on the dash.

yeah, that's why i like it...any details on that bracket/mount?

malphrus

the bracket is from Howe steering. its just a simple tube clamp holder. i got it from stock car products online. also where i got the steering shaft (3/4 tube with a 1/4 inch wall) and the pillow block bearing thats on the firewall. its a swivel type bearing that is the shizzle.

ujionts came from summit.

They are purposely like that, and they are all laser cut. They should overlap into the engine compartment and a little bit after at the bottom. We leave everything long so the customer can decide what they want to do with the kit.

lemme take some pics of the bottom of the tube. that tube was too short, and so the fenders dont go up that high. its too late now, they are already made.

mebbe ill go to one of those fiberglass hood/fender jobby things.... down the road

I was thinking about what you were saying some time ago and I think you might of mounted the main support the wrong way. There is a short side and a long side. Did you have to cut down one side for the outer fender tube?

no i didnt have to cut anything, but i did notch the wrong side of a few things  i looked into me being a dummy when i was fabbing these up, so i actually was looking at your nekked fenders on the MT website for actual comparason.

dont you guys make a "Stock" set and a "lifted" set? it aint no biggie anymore, whats done is done. i just need to sleeve the bottom of the tube to make an extension, so i can fully use that plate. when i go to the steel shop again, ill have to get some tube that will sleeve inside 1 1/4 or whatever tube it is.
