Poser, is where did you pick up the fuel tank. The one that goes under both front seats. May ask what you paid for it?

Right here....

He liked M-A-F's website. I thought that was where it was from. Boy those tanks sure have come up in price. I should have bought one when they were under $500. Maybe I will have to see about welding up my own. I wonder how much that would leak....

Giving up?

Halo,

I've been watching from afar the rebuild and keep looking for updates...A couple months now since the last one so does this mean the Cruiser's restoration is no longer going to be?

no, i have been incredibly busy at work, and trying to start a business at the same time.

i have ordered some metal tech tube fenders for it, but i have a tubing bender now lol.

i ordered them, but bought a bender in the mean time. I cant go against my word, and tell him i didnt need them, so they are coming to me.

the cheap truck challenge is overwith (for the most part) its on the pirates board under the ford section if your inclined to wanna read it.

the cruiser will be seeing new light when the bender is all set up! i have a hydro conversion coming for it.

im gonna get hot and heavy on it in the next couple of weeks.

latley i have been busy enough, that i leave the house at 6:15, and been getting home at 8:00, by the time i eat, shower, check my emails, and "vist" with the wifey, its 10:30, i gotta go to bed :(

so dont worry, the cruiser has a goal by the end of the year. thanks for still looking after me!

haha, i got a lil' excited...thought you were postin up some new stuff, ha ha

did you get the tube fenders w/skins? either way, you want to get rid of them?

hope stuff is goin well at work so you can entertain us soon enough, ha ha

what gauge steel did you use for the hangers and whats the thickness and diameter for the pipe you used for the bushings?

im thinking of making one for mine too.. what the bushing size?

ok i got the fenders from metal tech. that was ordered and paid for before i got the bender. hindsight is 20-20. no biggie.

are you talking about the rear hangers?

the rear hangers were made out of 2/3 box steel 1/4 thick. i cut them out and then welded them up.
the pipe, is actually tubing, its 1 1/4 (i think) .120 wall ish..... the bushings dont really fit as well as i like. im prolly gonna put a sleeve inside to get a diffrent diameter..... that way i can use bushings that fit tighter.

and you guys think im not working on it :D

lookie what im making right now.....

problem.

ok i thought i exceeded my upload limit, and so i started erasing pictures so i can post more, but turns out my star expired, so i erased a TON of pictures from the original thread. if you wanna see the pics, i have them stored on the 'puter, but it would take FOREVER to re attatch all the pictures in the correct order and all that jazz. maybe woody can help with it.

sorry!!!!

so its kinda lookin like a cruisah again, ay? :smokin: i got some better lights in the garage too, so i can make better booger welds :D

more pron of my junk

it took quite a long time to massage the tube for the passanger B to A pillar, cause i didnt have the tank when i put the straight bars in. so i had to cut it out, and bend a new tube to go around it. so then the hieght of the tube from passanger to drivers B to A pillar were diffrent, so i had to really engineer some cool tubes to take up the diffrence of height and angle. took for ever!

front fenders need to be fully welded and skinned. rear tube fenders arnt done yet. im gettin this damn thing on the road if it kills me!

Wait till you weld on the skins and have the joy of grinding the welds flush to the tubing :flipoff2:

Cruiser is looking good, starting to come together nicely.

:frown: i wasnt too crazy with those fenders. i dunno if im retarded or whatever, but i had a hard time putting them together. i guess cause someone has bent them, and its their idea, i have to get into the same idea. if i were to do it again, (obviously since i have a bender) i would have made the outer tube one peice, instead of two... also i didnt like how the peice that bolts to the framerails, it doesnt have enough tube to really make a connection to the plate. like i said, i coulda been a dummy, but i tried mounting the tube both ways, since it has two diffrent leg lengths. i didnt see that problem in the other pictures of other peoples MT fenders. in order to get the same approximate hieght of the fenders in the MT pictures i had to mount them almost flush with the top of the bolt on plates. i dont know if i got the wrong size tube cut or what? i guess im gonna try and make some gussets to help it out, but i know it isnt going to be strong enough the way it sits, if i just weld the tube to the plate.

There should be a 1.5" nub of tubing going horizantal for the main support to sit on in the middle of the frame mounted piece. The nub sits inbetween the 4 bolt holes and then the main supports starts flush at the top set of bolts.

The front 90 bend is impossible to do on a bender when the 2nd bend on the outer piece is so close. That is why it is two pieces, it doesn't affect the structure of it.

Don't make those fenders too stout... they are designed to be stronger than stock. But you don't want them too strong and ripping your frame rails off because you over built it.

Yea, no bueno on the tube coming down. i have approx 3/4 inch or so hanging down to weld to the plate.

i dunno, i think my HD105 could bend it :D

everything is going to be tied into each other. the front stinger and hoop, into the fenders, into the rocker panels, into the rear fenders, and then cage stingers. im hoping on a real hard impact, it gets spread out to everything.
