Well. There's the end of that conversation. Lol definitely the Prado. Maybe I'll buy one in a few years if they hit the used market in cloth seats, and more utilitarian versions of the gx550, turn it into a toy. But if it's got all the bells and whistles. I'll just turn my 200 series into a toy and go buy the LX600

Why get LX600 Instead of GX550?

Why anyone would buy LX?

I guess that the only things in favor of LX: semi-aniline leather, more power from different tuning, Mark Levinson Reference system, and (maybe) higher quality materials inside.

GX has several things over LX: price for one, same size (aka you get more for your money), off-road capability, probably more aftermarket accessories, no need for AHC to get decent off-road angles, better dash design, arguably better styling (personal choice), and an actual rear bumper!

GX now has same tow ratings as LX. Same size. Basically same powertrain with different tune. Same platform.

So is Lexus looking to kill off LX with next refresh cycle?

Well I need to see which power plant it has and what the front and rear styling looks like before I commit to one over the GX550. It's nice to finally put the rumors and guessing to rest, but if it isn't $10K cheaper than the GX I don't see how it'll make sense to most buyers.

When we realized that the LC 300 wasn't coming to the states last year we went and looked at the LX600 very closely. We took a lengthy test drive with one and spent over an hour with it crawling around inside and playing with things and we realized it wasn't for us. If I am spending $90K on a daily from here on out I'll get back into a new F-250/350 King Ranch/Limited/Platinum over anything else.

They'll keep the LX for the Uber rich and middle east customers. Someone always wants better, the best.

People are still paying overmarket for a 130k car as well as paying even more on top to export em

I can get behind that as well. I have an obs f350 ford along with my 200 series and I can definitely see myself buying a f350 king ranch diesel in the near future over these options

For me (and my needs), a F150 Hybrid is perfect (tow 13k lbs, self-powered 7.2 kWh generator)…….if not for the automatic ejection of the rear axle issue that Ford can’t solve….

No, they are different vehicles!

Sharing a platform is common these days.

I can’t buy a GX550 or New LC and say I have a 300 Series Land Cruiser, it will be the same as owning a VW Tourareg and saying I have a Porsche Cayenne or a Lamborghini Urus, which all share the same platform and several parts.

ok…….if you feel that way…..

Just an exaggeration of the topic!

It will be a great vehicle for the current market, just different than a 300 series by intention, which is the benefit of shared or modular platforms.

Dunno…GX vs. LX…same footprint…same platform…same TOW RATING.

I doubt that Toyota/Lexus would make relatively inferior parts for GX given that it is Lexus OFF-ROAD vehicle (aka some expectation of off-roading) and has same tow rating as LX. You think that Lexus will make the axle smaller or smaller bushings in GX even tho it has same tow rating? Toyota is not Ford here! LOL.

And from the other threads (linked above), i cannot see much difference in frame and suspension design.

I am guessing that the price difference will be in the luxury part (insulation, windows thickness, sound system, leather quality, etc), not so much the hardware. Aka LX570 vs. LC200.

Possibly more than the luxury features, many in places you can’t see as you mentioned.

For example, Toyota can make one axle housing for both the GX and LX that are both equal in rating and have the same size bearings, axles, gears etc.

Toyota can then theoretically source bearings, axle shafts, ring and pinion etc. of the same dimensions but of differing quality, maybe ones made in Japan goes in the LX one from elsewhere or of slightly lesser quality/cost goes into the GX, do the same on down the production line and repeat this process 100’s of times in manufacturing, you save money and lower the cost of your finished good.

This makes it possible to offer a $75k GX and a $90k LX. It is Toyota’s job to find the places where compromises will be least noticeable.

I am not saying the GX will be bad vehicle, likely better than most anything else on the road, heck it is going to be $75k, just demonstrating similar is not always the same when manufacturing products.

I thought someone made a post with a pic showing the differences in the frames, most notably at the body mounts and areas where the front suspension mounts.

Who’s trading in the 200 for the new GX? Is the 300 series LC really coming to the U.S or this just hearsa?

I don't believe we are getting the 300, just a Prado to mirror the new GX550.

Keeping the 200 and likely adding the GX. As others have said I highly doubt we'll see the LC300 (as known overseas) stateside; but that the New LC will likely share a common frame/body with the new GX.

What is the difference b/w LC300 overseas and GX550 OverTrail?
