Specs and numbers are one thing. All I need are a few pics in the nude to make my judgement. The 300 does not utilize as beefy as suspension components as the 200. I have crawled around a Tundra and the arms, tie rods, knuckles etc are not as large. I suspect the next GX to have lesser components than the current 150.

What’s the curb weight?

I am hoping that they use higher tensile steel? Or thicker aluminum? If what you say is true, then wow…that is sad to hear.

I can see the 4runner being slightly smaller than the current 4runner and the land cruiser talk is just talk. Unless ya'll know something I don't. I've seen the teasers but we have no clue what they're bringing. Is it a less luxury version of the 550? Is it the 300 series? Is it a new FJ done right this time? Have our prayers have been answered and a 70 series with a diesel ìs otw. Gonna be interesting to see it play out to say the least, but as a 200 series owner I'm excited

Just talk here.. but my guess it'll be a badge job on a version of GX550 🤷‍♂️

Unfortunately as a 25+ year jdm fan boy that's what happened with the supra. It was extremely disappointing and with the world we live in its very possible and likely to happen with the next US LC, but I'll hope for the best and wait n see I guess

Supra was a combo of Toyota and BMW.

At least with LX/LC/GX/4runner/Sequoia/Tundra/4runner/Tacoma, you get all Toyota parts with a dash of profits....

Supra was a BMW with a Toyota badge. /fixed 🤭

But do agree, hopefully whatever they do with LC, it still keeps mostly Toyota parts.

If it's a rebadge GX550 I hope there's at least a price difference reflected. I have a feeling it'll be awful close in price making it hard to justify the Toyota over the Lexus. Hopefully all of this speculation is wrong and they wow us in every way possible but I doubt it haha.

What's crazy is... what is cheaprr in 2023? When Highlanders and top of the line 4runners are getting close to $60k when loaded. Cheaper has become such a relative term

Agreed, $hits out of control on all fronts. I was just discussing sports car prices with my wife and once we were done with the conversation I damn near had myself talked out of it lol. Here's me secretly hoping for a financial collapse in order to reset things lol.

The dimensions on the outside may be similar but I can guarantee the interior space will be a lot smaller then our lc200’s.

Can someone please clarify what all this LC talk is about? From my understanding, the new "LC" that's coming will actually be a Prado, not a real LC, correct? Sounds like they're watering down the LC name with a NA-only Prado version. Why is everyone talking like this will be a variation of the 300? It won't.

I don't think anyone here has any preconceived idea that it'll have any relation to a 300 Series, it's most certainly a Prado variant/evolution. It's the Land Cruiser Lite if you will haha.

Exactly!

The same strategy is played out in other markets that didn’t receive the 200, they drop Prado from the 150 model and just call it Land Cruiser.

It will be capable and cool, sell out annually, bring $20-$30k over sticker, appease all the overlanders with it’s thick catalog of accessories, but from an over engineered and over built 200 or 300 series it will not be and according to Toyotas wisdom it doesn’t have to be!

It will feel lighter, because it is, and people will rave about the nimbleness, it will be like GX‘s and Prado’s have always been, a version of an upgraded 4Runner or a downgraded Land Cruiser, refer to it whichever way you like.

And all this is fine because they will be good rigs and plenty capable, but it will be a tough move from a 200 series “if“ you like the “Heavy feel” that we have associated with Land Cruisers for the past few iterations, however it will be a perfect step for the adventure family who wants something a little more mature than another 4Runner they bought just after grad school!

This is why Lexus is still emphasizing and displaying built LX’s, choices!

But GX was on 150 platform…and now it is on same platform as 300.

The problem is that everything going forward is based on the TGNA-F platform…just a little shorten here, just thinner metal here or there….

So, it is hard to weed out the differences b/w Lexus LX vs. a GX vs. a 4runner vs. a Sequoia. They are all on the same basic backbone design.

Spot on! Just this past weekend I went from driving my mother in laws '23 Rav4 to hopping back into our '22 GX460 and then returning home to drive the '20 200 Series and it's wild how much progression there is between the three in regards to how they drive/handle, cabin noise, perceived weight and power. Our 200 isn't going anywhere anytime soon and I reserve the right to consider keeping our GX460 as well until I have gotten some real world owner feedback and decent seat time behind the new GX550.

But there will be differences, the material thickness, overall length, strength etc. will lead to perceived differences.

Is this an assumption of the Prado coming (which by the way I think you're right. Rebadge and dumb down the gx550 luxury) or is it confirmed by a reliable source that it won't be the 300 series, 70 series, new FJ, etc?
