I guess…….but per your drawing…it is outboard of fenders….. :D
The overall width dimension of a vehicle is to the furthest outboard point, which in this case is the fender flares, not the fenders themselves.

The GX550 mirrors sit inboard from the fender flares, not outboard, as seen in the Lexus photo.

So let me get this straight…Toyota and Lexus will have how many vehicles all about the same size?

Lexus LX600 and GX550.

Toyota Sequoia, upcoming Land Cruiser, and upcoming 4runner.

5 vehicles at least all the same with just minor cosmetic and luxury differences??

Let’s not forget that the Tundra is basically a fraternal twin also.

Personally, i think that upcoming LC will be special. My guess…LC 2-door based on a shortened 300 platform…like FJC…but more traditional styling to fight Bronco and Wrangler…4-banger turbo…shorter wheelbase, smaller in size, yet LC quality…and allows Toyota to keep prices “reasonable” for a LC. This way, you get the best of Bronco/Wrangler in terms of off-road capability YET surpasses them with a superior platform and quality.

Let’s go!

I think a 2-door would be awesome! Sizing wise, a new age big Bronco, with modern drivetrain and safety features would be awesome. Give that thing Toyota reliability and it will be a cult hit for years to come.

Placing my order now. Someone please buy a Nori Green/Saddle Tan Overtrail that you plan to keep 6-7 years. Must be located somewhere dry and salt free, must have documented maintenance. I have $40k in 2030 waiting for you.

Sure. I will gladly do that for you. Please forward $40k to my Venmo account now and i will honorably give you my GX in 2030…heck i will even throw in a Dollar Store gift card of $5 for your investment.

Disclaimer: My GX may not be Nori Green nor Saddle Tan interior nor an Overtrail trim nor even a GX550…but it will be a GX. Wear and tear and abuse are to be expected but it will for sure turn on.

You’re in luck as that’s pretty much the spec I want. Hope you don’t mind me adding the 21 speaker Mark Levinson and the HUD. Will probably have a set of Ray’s on it by the time it makes it to you as well.

*Disclaimer: I’ve yet to keep a vehicle longer than 4 years. You may be out of luck.

We will likely end up with an Over Trail as well. Nori Green would be at the top of our list followed by Incognito and Earth. Now, I wont buy until year two or three but by then those colors might not even be available.

Love that they kept Nori Green as that’s one of my favorite colors. At the same time I’m concerned about how long they will continue to offer it since it doesn’t seem to be very popular outside of enthusiast circles. Holding out hope they add it to the IS500 for 2024.

Same here. I almost feel forced to get an Over Trail as that appears to be the only way to get the off-road goodies and the only way to avoid changing wheels since the Premium come with 20's and the Luxury with 22's.

The Lexus World & Canada Press Releases with the dimensions in millimeters are correct. Lexus made an error in their US Press Release & US Pre-Order Guide when they converted from millimeter dimensions to inch dimensions. I'm currently trading emails with the Lexus Media contact person regarding the errors.

Lexus US did in fact give us the correct dimensions in the body of the US Press Release, on page 2, paragraph 7 & 8. With those notes we can prove or disprove the other calculations to confirm the correct length and width in inches. Here are the calculations based on those notes, but first a summary.
-
TLDNR - 2024 GX Dimensions
CORRECT - Length - 194.88"
CORRECT - Width - 77.95"
INCORRECT - Length - 197.04"
INCORRECT - Width - 83.22"
-
Calculations using US Press Release adders
-
US Press Release text (paragraphs 7 & 8)
"The overall length of the 2024 GX is increased by 2.75 inches."
"The overall width increases by 3.74 inches (Overtrail by 4.52 inches) compared to the previous-generation GX."
(my Note 1: The Overtrail added width dimension vs the Premium & Luxury models is due to thickness of the "Wheel Well Moldings", equivalent to what Bronco/Jeep call "Fender Flares".)
-
Based on that, here are the dimension calculations using the US press release text adders:
Using the dimensions from the US Lexus website for the 2023 Lexus GX 460, the width is 74.20" and the length is 192.10".
LENGTH Calculation:
The 2024 GX length is (192.10") + (2.75") = 194.85"
WIDTH Calculation:
The 2024 Premium & Luxury GX width is (74.20") + (3.74") = 77.94"
The 2024 Overtrail GX width is (74.20") + (4.52") = 78.72"
-
So using those calculations, here is a comparison to the published World & US dimensions along with my original drawing calculations, which were based on the Lexus published dimensions for tread/track width.
-
LENGTH SUMMARY
Based on 2023 GX plus 2024 adder = 194.85" (close but rounding error)
Based on World & Canada Press Releases (4,950mm) = 194.88" - CORRECT
Based on US Press Release = 197.04" - INCORRECT
-
WIDTH SUMMARY
Based on 2023 GX plus 2024 adder = 77.94" (close but rounding error)
Based on World & Canada Press Releases (1,980mm) = 77.95" - CORRECT
Based on my original drawing post (tread/track, tire and fender overhang widths) = 77.95"
Based on US Press Release = (83.22" + mirrors) (see my Note 2&3 below) - INCORRECT
(my Note 2: Of course the 2024 is not 9.02" wider than the 2023 74.20" width)
(my Note 3: The mention of (+ mirrors) is irrelevant as you can see in a straight-on photo the mirrors sit inboard of fenders, so they are not part of the equation.)
-
Looking at a straight on, rear photo, as you can see the mirrors sit well inside of the widest part of the vehicle, therefore the (+ mirrors) note is irrelevant and not part of the equations. One of the key dimensions is the 2023 GX width of 74.02" minus the published 83.22" 2024 GX dimension. If there were not a mistake in the conversion from millimeters to inches that would mean the 2024 GX is 9.02" wider than the 2023 GX at 74.20" width, which hardly passes the sanity test.

Yes, it sounds similar to your 2018 land cruiser. I finally got one user on another forum to help me evaluate the odd photo angles to see what is really going on. It looks like due to either the parallax angle errors in the photos or the possibility Lexus had the mirrors folded in some of the photos created the illusion that the mirrors were riding within the envelope of the outermost part of the body and fenders.

So the more correct way to state the width dimensions:
Overall Width of the widest part of body, not including mirrors - 77.95"
Overall Width, at the outer tip of the mirrors, with the mirrors extended in there normal driving position - 83.22"

After reviewing a bunch of photos and videos I grabbed a screen capture from one video at the moment you can see the tip of the mirrors extending approximately 2 1/2" beyond the fender line.

My calculus is simple: bring back the split tailgate to the LC and that's my next vehicle. Don't - it's the GX. LOL

I think we are there with you.

But what about the cupholders?
