The premise of the thread is faulty. But your truck really isn't a comparable comparison for most of the people walking into Lexus showrooms with $120k to burn.
dont bring logic here - he doesnt like it …. you know he is a baller now with his SC and anything lx600 or anything else sucks

“true enthusiast” and all

Never claimed to be a “true enthusiast,” though I respect and enjoy learning from them. I like what I like. Love my truck. It’s all good fun.

Better question is why you cosplay as a regular dude when you’re really super rich?

You've forgotten the best selling point for the LX600, you can drive it til you blow up the engine and get a brand new engine for free. Can't do that with a supercharged 200. haha.

I just sold my Magnuson 1900 and might pick up either a Harrop or a Magnuson 2650. Haven't decided yet, but it's for my Tundra not my 200.

I've driven a 600 and it didn't impress me enough to ditch the 200. It was faster than the 200 but not crazy. I'd like to drive a 700 and see how that is.

I think the real reason someone would buy a 600 is the new car smell, new leather, carplay, updated exterior, the joy of dealing with car salesmen, impressing the neighbors with your new depreciating asset, you know just the fun parts of buying a new car.

Supercharged 200 is a great setup. Over on the Tundra forum those guys are constantly pushing the limits of the 5.7 platform but the weak link has consistently been the transmission. Relatively few engine failures, and those are usually people who know they're on the edge at 700-1000hp. There's a lot of wild builds over there, built transmissions, long travel, AWD swaps, lowered street trucks on slicks, etc.

The Tundra transmission doesn't seem too happy past 600hp - but it's a 6 speed, not the 8 speed 200 Series transmission. You can mitigate it with valve bodies and other modifications, but the learning curve to push power past the 550 or so that most stock TRD units are set up for is exponential in cost and time. I haven't seen anyone push the 200 Series much power-wise and would be interested to see if it has the same weak points as the Tundra.

Really that's the biggest con for supercharging the 5.7 - if you hate to leave power on the table, and you like tinkering, it's a slippery slope. Before you know it you've changed your pulley, changed your belt, you need bigger injectors, new fuel rail, gauges, traction bars, new tune, you're constantly data logging, watching your AFRs, transmission tune, your coolant reservoir is leaking, you need bigger brakes, valve body, trans pan, catch can, intake, new throttle body, new headers, LSD rear end, regear, built transmission, you've blown your motor, forged block, stroker build, new pistons and rods... haha exaggerated I know but sometimes when I follow all this stuff my eyes glaze over and I think man I gotta keep this mild. Too much tweaking.

And that's a selling point for the LX700 in my eyes. Make the engineers do all that. Easy, just buy the car and go. Less hassle than adding a supercharger, and you're at what, about 450hp for the LX700?

Though I don't even know how much power the aftermarket can wring out of the V35, seems like everyone is too preoccupied with bearings to really dig into the performance side.

Great post. Thank you for this. I’m not going to try to squeeze every last drop out of mine. I’m happy with the boost I have now. I probably wouldn’t have even done it, at least not yet, if the supercharger hadn’t fallen into my lap for a song. I’m just going to enjoy and hope she doesn’t blow up on me down the road. Will be an adventure.

Yeah I don't think you'll blow it up, the 5.7 is a great motor. It seems like the happiest supercharger owners are the ones that set it and forget it at a reasonable power level. Well the 700+hp guys who are gapping TRXs seem pretty happy too, but at what cost.. haha

Right? It's so easy to get use to new power levels then get the itch to turn up the wick... just a bit more.

people who have 08 LC aren't rich.

We dream about being you in a future life....

If you just enjoy your truck, try to do that...no need to take dumps on LX600 and others....

true enthusiasts don't do that

Dude you take dumps on people every day. All I did was provoke a discussion about supercharged older models vs fancy new models.

Also, don’t forget about your Lambo, ‘Rari, seven Tacomas, and whatever other toys you’ve got. Regular Joe ain’t got those.

Look, I’m sure you’re a great guy. You post some good content. You’re got great taste in vehicles. We would probably be friends if we ever met in real life. Let’s not attack each other.
