New member here from TX. Picked up a bone stock 2017 GX premium with 20k miles on it in February and immediately started modifying thanks to months of prior research in this forum. Thank you all so much for the information you've all shared over the years!

Mods thus far are:

  • All front speakers replaced with JBL and Kenwood
  • Gamiviti roof rack + front and rear light bars
  • 2" Dobinsons twin tube
  • TRD Pro wheels + BFG AT KO2 (275/70/17)

I think I'm pretty much done and think the truck looks just how I like it (at least for now!).

Love this roof rack! Did you happen to get a snap on fairing to cover the lights when not in use? Any pictures of how you attached the front light bar?
welcome to the group!

Thank you! Gamiviti was awesome; they got it done for me on a rush and even helped me do the install in person. Yes I got the wind fairing which I use on road-trips but wind noise not bad below 50 or 60mph.

Front light bar attaches via steel ears welded in specifically for that purpose. He can weld the ears at whatever distance and dimensions you want to fit whatever light bar you want, but I just ordered the light bar that they sell. Picture of the steel mounting ear:

I have the exact same rack and lights. I had to make my own "clear" fairing for my rack. Tim was kind enough to send me the template and I modified it a wee bit on my SolidWorks so I could print it out in three sheets of 11"x17" paper to use as a template. Is Tim providing a clear polycarbonate/acrylic fairings now?

No, my fairing is all black with "Gamiviti" in white. I just run without it unless on highway because I think the light looks better than the fairing.

Removed the stock steps and worked on the fender liners today. Very little rubbing, only on full lock up front. Although this is on the road and I expect further trimming later on. Still on stock suspension while I wait for Ironman to ship. BMC soon, although I’m not rubbing on it right now surprisingly. 18x8.5 ET0 w/ 285/70.

That looks absolutely amazing. Can’t wait to see it with the lift.

Thank you! TRD wheels were from Serra Toyota of Decatur -- $715 shipped and they were great to work with (held the wheels for me for 6 weeks while I waited on suspension to get here).

And yeah, I have some rub right now at about half-turn in reverse. I think I know where it's rubbing up front and should be able to fix it either with a heat gun or by removing an odd little plastic plate that's held on by a couple bolts (anyone know if I need those?)
When I fit the 265/75s on our stock height 460 I removed those little mudd flaps they had up front there and then heated up the fender liner pushing in some of the molded parts that were sticking out. Took care of all of my rubbing.

Hey! How is Pismo Beach these days? We were on it a couple years ago, but I've heard all kinds of rumors recently that either it's closed, closed to camping, parts are closed, etc.
Can you give me (us) a quick idea of what's really going on up there? We're thinking of wanting to do a little camp/surf up there in a couple months.

That's a massive beach!
I got a Subaru Legacy stuck on that beach, about a dozen years ago. This thread is also a good reminder that my wife has been asking me to go to Pismo one of these days and that I'm running out of time.

Anyhow, I went on a great local trip yesterday and let it all hang out. I've lifted a tire before, but never in a situation where I could stop and get out. This was just me having some low-stakes fun near the trailhead. Higher up the hill I ran into some pretty serious terrain that pushed my limits quite a bit more.

ETA, this is a little overcooked in post, but I'm thinking "new profile pic"?

Like I said, plenty more challenging up the hill. This section just about beat me.

This is all on West Tecuya trail. I was hoping to traverse to the east side of the ridge for a loop, but they've got it gated off for motorcycles only about midway. Great views from the top of Mt Piños and the surrounding areas.

Nice! One part (the only?) of the West that isn't charred... (yet...)
