Got everything installed over the weekend. Works nicey after I figured out how to get the pins out. One side of the pins do not lock in which is a bummer but I don't see them backing out at all. I will order the new connector and just trade them out at another time.

Very happy with this install. In the future I am going to add a yellow LED (or incandescent) to the mirror so that you have better blind spot coverage. I'm assuming I just need to tap into the same corner lamp and extend the wires up to the mirrors....

heres a clip of them doing the dual function.

thanks again to everyone involved in making this happen.

Looks nice.....Looks like you have the original signal and the Arb Signal hooked up?

Call me crazy but I'm considering these. Anyone try them?

Someone with a well thought out rig posted about these (has them) in his thread. Forget who but he liked them.

I did get the newer pins from Gary, and they look exactly like the originals. I've been in the middle of an axle rebuild that took a whole week, so haven't had a chance to try the new pins out. I'll post up once it's done.

For those waiting for the harness with the ARB pigtail, I'm working with Gary on that...No ETA

Question for those wanting the harness with the ARB pigtail...

What is the general consensus on whether you want it incorporated as a marker light, blinker, or both?

The video above shows you how it would work/look with the ARB lights as a blinker. I'm assuming that if Gary builds the harness so that the ARB lights can be both, the lights would be "disco" in nature.

Corsair23, thanks for working with Gary, I got the request from Stu, but I have not had time to deal with this. I just want to benefit from it. :)

Can we confirm that the ARB fixture will not melt in constant light on?
I rather have it on, with the corner and original blinking. I don't see a need for three blinking lights.

Waiting on the ARB and resolution for the 1996-97 pin issue.

Hey Rami :)

Well, on the melting of the lense issue. I have my ARBs wired up in the "disco mod" configuration so they are markers with the parking lights on but also act as blinkers. When I did that it was suggested that people downgrade the bulbs to a lower wattage to avoid melting the lenses which I did. I never had a problem.

When I replaced the lenses with clear ones from Nakman/Gamaviti and had to go with amber bulb, I had to go back up to the higher wattage bulbs as that was what was available in amber. That's been a couple of years and no melted lenses yet :hillbilly: - I've cracked two sets so far but haven't melted any.

So...if you have the standard amber ARB lense I'd just go with a lower wattage bulb and you'll be fine. If you have clear lenses then go with what you can find bulb wise.

I'll put you down as a vote in favor of marker only on the ARB.

Excellent Don, cant wait to see.

Thanks

Thanks for picking this up Corsair23. An ARB is in my near future so I will like the disco solution.

Got it down. So far it looks like Gary is open to making 3 different versions of the ARB harness (marker only, blink only, "disco") but we'll see. I think we are getting close to having a prototype ready for my testing and we are just finalizing up harness lengths for trial.

pin removal success on blinker terminal retainer

I have not fully checked if somebody else mentioned this, but page C 13 of the EWDM mentions how to the get the pins out that very pesky blinker terminal retainer.

After easy success with the corner marker retainer using a tiny screwdriver to remove the terminal pins, I was having a terrible time with the blinker retainer (like many here). Then I noticed it comes apart a bit, so I looked it up in the manual.

Once I opened it and pulled the white piece out (see pic), I was able to force the little pin lock up without further mangling of the retainer. Seems very very difficult otherwise.

Also, you guys would also laugh at how long I took me get the corner marker assembly off...it was too easy, and it threw me. I am used to my 60.

Apologies if this was already covered.

Cheers, Jon

Thanks for the above...There are other connectors like the NSS that have a locking tab in them so this should prove helpful.

On the ARB harness front. Based on some discussions with Gary, I think the route we are going to take is that Gary will run the appropriate wires needed in every ARB harness so that the buyer can set up their ARB lights as markers, blinkers, or "disco". This will offer the flexibility for people to change up the ARB light function down the road if they desire. Owners will need to reuse the connector that came with the ARB light kit pigtail. I verified that yes, you can get the terminals out of the connector. It takes some persuasion to get them out but they do come out. Then you'll insert the appropriate terminals into the connector from Gary's harness, tape up the unused terminals, and plug in your ARB lights.

This is all pending testing but I believe it should work well, allow Gary to just make one ARB harness for all options (or maybe just make one harness going forward regardless), and offer buyers the flexibility of changing how the ARB lights function down the road as they see fit.

UPDATE on the ARB harness

Gary has a prototype ready to send me for testing and I should have it within a week or so. This harness incorporates terminals for the various ARB light connection options (marker, blinker, disco). Here is a picture (the ARB terminals are at the top):

My truck is getting some work done right now but as soon as I get it and the harness together I'll get everything hooked up and tested. I'll probably make some short videos even of the different ways folks can hook up their ARB lights so you can get an idea of what route you want to take, initially anyway :)

Sorry for the delay guys...My truck is still in the shop :frown:

I hope to get it back this week or early next and then it shouldn't take long to test the harness and post up.

So hopefully I'll post up some information before the end of the month and you guys that are waiting for the ARB version can start placing orders. Really the only question, assuming the harness works as expected, is to verify the length of the ARB pigtail. It needs to be long enough to reach the ARB lights and offer the owner the ability to swap what terminals go into the ARB connector down the road. I had Gary build the prototype longer than I believe will be necessary but we'll see.
