This was the perfect opportunity to switch to an LRA one.
Perhaps consider an auxiliary tank? The number of miles you put on it, you will really like 500+ miles range
I really thought about it. Long and hard. Ultimately I did decide to add an aux tank down the road. I just couldn't get past the LRA hanging under the frame rails (I know a guy who fugged a fuel tank already) and cost. I think I'll do like a 10 gallon aux tank in the spare tire area. There's a great write up on mud for something very close to what I have in mind.

This is a fantastic idea. Gonna need to put this on my ever-expanding to-do list. :writer:

Yeah, that needs to be added to the LC newbie thingy. YOU WILL NEVER BE DONE. Repeat after me... You. Will. Never. Be. Done. 🤣

With Edgar's approval, I got to use my winch for house stuff. We all hated that bush anyways.

Last night @Wermz dropped by to help remove my front bumper. Gerry is going to see the Doctor today for a bunch of scheduled maintenance. New CVs, new VCGs, filters, brakes, timing service, clunk diagnosis, etc. I also uninstalled the old 9500LB winch and prepped my new 12k to go in to the bumper.

I really love the clearance that no ARB gives. If I weren't in the middle of the most expensive friggin month ever, I'd be very seriously shopping new bumpers right now. But alas...

I have a new used OEM fuel tank en route, provided @YezusLX hasn't been abducted and trafficked to Cuba. Once that's in, I'll install the new ASFIR fuel tank skid, as well as the other ones that have been off the truck for a few months.

Fiddled with my winch a little more yesterday. I think I've decided to leave the control box mounted on the winch inside the bumper, and install remote power switch and USB plug. I have ordered new components that should be in this weekend, and I'm planning to mount them on the flat spot of the bumper behind the bar, in front of the high beam housing. Keeps things streamlined and easy, IMO.

So I'll just extend the two red wires on the left in this photo, and use a USB extension for the plug.

I think it'll go nicely on this flat open spot on the bumper. Easily accessed from the bottom while the bumper is off.

I also picked Gerry up from the Dr yesterday. @Wermz worked magic and now we've got new OEM CVs, VCGs, serp belt tensioner, TB/WP and all affiliated seals and parts, spark plugs, front fuel filter, new thermostat, new fan bracket, new front brakes, turned rotors, re-torqued suspension, new diff and T-case fluids, and probably some more. I'd complained to him when I dropped it off that the suspension was feeling like garbage. Pops and bangs, crashing and shuddering. He found a ton of loose nuts and bolts, which sucks, because they get checked and tightened (by both of us) at least twice a year. Maybe the bumper bolts falling out a while back wasn't that obscure. Implementing a thread-locker policy from now on. Anyway, it feels much tighter and better put together now. New CVs remedied a horrendous vibration I'd been dealing with for about 6 months over 70ish MPH. No more slop when on/off throttle. Mileage is exactly 306K at the end of this service.

Oh yeah, and I ordered some T-case 25% reduction underdrive gears. Not sure when they'll go in but I (Wermz) will do a freshening with new bearings and seals while we're in there.

What's next? Besides the T-case gears, I bought a new toy that I want to use to make up some stuff for the truck Aluminum-framed drawers, maybe??

Also I hate my ARB and would really love a much higher clearance bumper.. Maybe down the road, very low financial priority. New fuel tank and skid will go in whenever the tank makes its way to Atlanta. We're coming up on 100k on the shocks, will likely be replacing all 4 corners with the new Dobinsons remote resi/ extended units. At 50k on tires now, will likely stick with the Toyos. Would like new seat skins, add lighting... Does it end, ever?

Do you have a battery disconnect switch between pos lead from battery to winch?

I've been asked by a few people- I finally put together an album for just the garage. If anyone is interested, here it is. With the exception of Wermz helping to hang lights and Ms Goose helping to spread epoxy, everything in here was 100% done by me. I love it.

I do not. Do you suggest one?

FWIW, the 'on/off' switch I mention is for the wireless receiver aspect of the new winch.
It is a seriously good idea to have a disconnect switch for your winch. You'd want your winch to be disconnected when not in use. It stops fools to just plug in a controller to your winch and play with it and perhaps more importantly, it provides protection against short circuiting in case of an accident!

Absolutely-

You cut the power to it when not in use for safety reasons- front end collision,
And as back up in case solenoid stuck on during recovery and you needed quick shut off- both scenarios are unlikely but better to be safe and plan for the worst

In engine bay near battery

Sounds worth it for the ease of install. I ordered this: Amazon product ASIN B07QCFSLVS . Guessing maybe the engine bay would be best for placement.

Thanks for the suggestion Abe and Andy!
That one would work fine. You could totally over do it and get this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/product/B000MMDLB6

I am using this mounting bracket: 100 Series Land Cruiser and LX470 Accessory Tray - https://owlexpedition.com/collections/100-series-land-cruiser-lx470/products/100-series-land-cruiser-and-lx470-accesory-tray

I also have a @TRAIL TAILOR built mount sitting on my bench that I could possibly sell to you.
