Been thinking about putting 4.11's in my late model 40 as 3.70's and 33's arent great. I found a set of decent 4.11 ring and pinions from a 78. Just wanted to make sure that would work fine. Also does anyone know how much a shop would charge to swap out my 3.73's for the 4.11's just looking for a rough est.

Most folks change the entire third members out. It takes quite a bit
of expertise to set up a new ring and pinion. You could get 4.11's out
of an older FJ40 or out of an FJ62. You might need to change the
pinion flanges out to meet your driveshaft pattern, depending on the
year of your cruiser.

I'm looking to go the other way (3.70) so let me know if you end up
pulling your third members out. I won't offer you my current 4.11's
as my vehicle is 36 years old!

You can look at cruiserparts.net for 3rds. I think they want $200
each.
