I have extended the seat in my 78, however the seats are mounted differently in the 83. I could sure use the extra room. Looking for suggestions on how to accomplish this. Thanks, Jim

I think if I mounted the seat directly to 1" rectangular tube and mounted the tube to the slide. Then I would be able set the seat back several inches.
This would raise the seat an inch, but I could live with it.

You have the right idea, but it's much easier to use Unistrut than rectangular tubing. I did this, and posted photos of it in another thread; let me see if I can find it or the photos.

Sounds good, Thanks

Thank you sir. very much appreciated.
Jim

I did mine by adding another set of rails (on another seat) to the existing rails. Its a little bit higher but I like that. Seat is now back against the wheel well and I have plenty of room. Also moved the passenger seat back using 25*50 unistrut

I did what @1911 did, worked great, was easy and reversible without any modifications to the original seats (or anything else for that matter).

Unistrut is big boy legos, works for many things.

^^^. That's the route I took. Thanks to all that contributed.
