I run 4:88’s/37’s and there is a noticeable difference in drivability once high range under drive gears are installed. I also noticed that the transfer case gears make more noise driving down the road. Trade-offs……

ill take that trade off for sure

I’ll keep ya posted, because I’m tired of going up mountain passes in 2nd gear
I don’t think the UD gears will solve this problem, not completely but a simple, low boost turbo set up will.

Are you running the UD gears ?

The last owner did all that when he did the low range gears! Or do I have to trim something else for the high range gears?
If it has been done already I would worry about it.

Well it’s back together. This was kind of a thing because I’m real stupid. I forgot about the ball/spring for the shifter, wondered why the shift fork wouldn’t go in, thought a hammer would fix it… it didn’t. Then I remembered the spring, realized that I bent it and that the ball disappeared. Pried the spring out, found the ball at the bottom of the case, then bent the spring straight again and hit it with a hammer until it was the correct height.
I then installed the input shaft bearing in correctly, sealed the case, thought I was wrong so I unsealed the case, flipped it, sealed the case again, realized it was now wrong, unsealed the case, flipped the bearing again, and then sealed the case…. Again.

I’m tired and dehydrated

Glad you gotter done !

Pull the case and take it to a shop that knows such things. Did you service it with gear oil?????

Take it back apart, it's probably something simple 🤷‍♂️

I got the transfercase popped open again last night….. nothing seems all that wrong. The bearing on the input shaft needed to be pressed down just the tiniest bit because the snap ring wasn’t totally snapped in and I found that the last owner used a puller on the out put shaft bearings and they’re a little funky… but that was like 80k miles ago and they seem to be wearing fine.

My best guess at this point is that the rear springs finally made the rear sit high enough that the rear driveshaft is super unhappy. I was reading some threads last night and they seemed to mirror my issues 🤷🏻‍♂️. Any ideas?
