I chased a similar nose it was only on deceleration only, turned out to be the drive shaft. The slip joint.
Everything felt fine in the rig, It wasn't tell I had it on the bench clamped down that I could feel the play in the slip joint.

I’ll check that tonight!

Same noise here (a common complaint it seems).
Broski, did you replace the driveshaft to correct the slip joint?

I'm about to be hypersensitive for the noises next time I get in and drive mine. I just chocked up the slight wine to the new gearing that would eventually wear enough to quiet down. I've changed the oil once already. And my driveshafts don't vibrate so I just grease them occasionally and let er rip. Front drive shaft does vibrate a little but then I very rarely engage 4WD on the highway unless it's like heavy snow out. Don't notice a vibration on the trail. :hillbilly:

Yes, noise stopped.

Search angry sparrows. Jeep thing but noise from the shaft decel. Common.

I finally got everything back together and measured the output of the transfercase
And the input of the diff and they’re almost 4 degrees apart. I’m kinda going out on a limb and thinking that’s my issue

I sold a friend a set of adjustable upper control arms last year and never ended up using them! So I’m putting them to use. Oh and my wheels arrived from Colorado!

Fingers crossed that the car drives like it should tomorrow

Oh! @Broski I checked the slip for play. I just clamped it to the rear bumper and shook the slip. It didn’t seem sloppy. Is that the right way to check it?
Yes.
I clamped the main body of the drive shaft to a table and then pried up and down on the other end. Slip yoke side should be hanging free. There should be no movement and the slip should be in the drive position.

Ok, I’ll double check it tonight! Thanks!

Ok so test drive #2 is done. The grinding noise is still there but it’s exponentially better after the adjustable upper control arms. There’s definitely some slop in the slip and I think a u joint is dying (I rebuilt it in a sand storm in moab a couple years ago). Sooooooo theres that but I’m calling this a WIN

The headliners off and the cars getting sent to a friend is welding in a patch panel for the sunroof. I couldn’t get it to stop rattling and it’s in the way if I ever want to do a cage so it’s going away.

Since the headliners off I added some sound deadener. I accidentally inhaled a wad of the jute when I was scraping it off and I almost puked

I need to do this.

If I can find a shop that will weld in a panel and weld up the roof rack holes.

Looking forward to the finished product. It's gonna be awesome.

Hopefully it goes well! I have no idea how I’m going to paint this thing and have it blend
