Doing front knuckle rebuild on 1974 FJ40. Obtained 1976 FJ55 front knuckles and calipers from mud member. Cleaned and painted knuckles, hubs, Aisen lockers and now ready to install. Rebuild kit and bearings from Cruiser Outfitters.

is that a long birf, 76-78, and a short locking hub?
everything looks purty.

It is a short hub with a short birf.

Bart,

If you would like you can borrow my centering garage and scale for the rebuild, just PM me you address and I'll send them.

Paul, is this the process of determining how many shims I need on the top and bottom? Is the centering garage the tool used do do that? I have the fish scale already. If so I will PM my address to you. Let me know. Thanks.

The centering tool determines how many shims you will need, so the knuckle is centered. The fish scale is used during install to set preload on the installation tool and on the knuckle.
