Front Bumper Stinger!

Why? What is it used for? I see all the cool 4x4's running this huge stinger sticking out of the front bumper and I just cant figure out what its used for. I apoligize ahead of time if this is a stupid question.

To keep from going over in situations like this (or worse), especially if you have a winch bumper sticking way out there.

Also if shaped properly if it doesn't stop you from going over it will turn it to one side or the other where most cages will have more strength in comparison to end over end
