What is the point of going outside the frame rail when coming directly off the manifold? Are their clearance issues that necessitate it coming out? I would think that it would be better run something like the FJ60 where it is all run just inside the frame rail and then come out between the wheel and rear shackle (between the spring and the frame).

It's to tight with the fuel lines and transfer case. If it were possible I would agree with you.

I run louvers.
These make the engine bay really dusty and once it rains it really get dirty under the hood...
I too would not run the exhaust pipes under the frame....
Judging by the pic above you got plenty of space to fit in a 2.5" exhaust pipe through there....

I assume which ever I run the dust would be great. I'm not looking forward to constantly washing the engine bay... I did go back to the muffler shop and we looked at it one more time and everything seems to be somewhat questionable as to possible issues. So we decided on what another MUD member did, which is to run it under the fuel pan and then straight down the driver side following OEM. I will put in two disconnects below the oil pan so I can just remove a section to work on engine parts (oil pan, etc). The only thing that's seems to be questionable is the exhaust will pass by the brake lines by the engine. I decided to go with 2.5" w/flow through Magnaflow muffler.

Here's the new routing...

aluminum heat shields will help with the brake lines.
If you are referring to the coil like brake line section these can be moved a few inches to avoid heat

I'll see if they can make something to help shield it. I'm referring to this:

It will come under the high point of the oil pan and the go underneath the starter.

Daniel here are some pics from when the muffler shop did my exhaust.

Behind the TC, over the DS and into the muffler.

Muffler on Driver pass side with both L&R pipes coming in.

Passenger side cat is not small by any means but it clears. It gets hot but havent had any issues

Muffler to tails pipe. it wraps around the coil and the fuel tank

Out the rear quarter panel...

Hope this helps any...
I run my brake lines over the TC and DS to the rear of the axle... as far away from heat as possible.
The front brake line that coils on the Pass side was pushed a few inches out of the way (nothing fancy) and it sits about 4" from the exhaust manifold.

MANUCHAO thank you for the details and pics, they are helpful! I'm doing a little more exploring and hopefully getting it done soon cause I'm tired of the fumes. ;) I'm thinking now I don't wanna go under the oil pan...I'm probably over thinking this whole thing. :D

Small update: I bought a used lift, power steering stuff to hopefully make work and loads of internal parts from another BJ. Gotta get some stuff behind me first before I delve to much into her.

ARB also sent me a template for the snorkel install.

SPECIAL THANKS to Landcruiserjunky for donating a inclinometer to our cause. Thank you sir! Now I just need to figure out how and where to install it. :D

It goes in the little slot above the ashtray (assuming it's an Aussie spec Toyota one)
