The upper rears bind against the inside of the mount negating any compliancy the bushing affords.

Metal on metal.... it's gonna bend or snap at the weld.

Don't know how others have managed, nor can I say exactly when I've bent, but have witnessed it with brand new OE bushings at the end of the rear links capable "droop", on a lift, so can only imagine that the vehicles weight on one wheel and not the other, acts like a lever.

Does appear to impact ground clearance, but thinking he's running 39s, so maybe it doesn't matter.

Is one way to address the gas tank.

And yes. It's an FJC .... :flipoff2:

Newest vehicle I've ever seen in his shop, and have canvased every PBB post or build ever done.
 
Admittedly, I need to get rid of the huge muffler/water heater tank under my rig, but until I do, I don't have room to run a 3rd link over there (I don't think).
 
I've spent a lot of time under my rig lately putting the TC back together. A subframe for the front looks absolutely doable.

The rear not so much. The last existing OE frame fastener location is at the TC crossmember, so a subframe would require welds along the frame for the rear links. I think the ideal situation would be welded rear link brackets with integrated bolt holes for the belly pan.

If I somehow implied a complete bolt on operation, my apologies.

In a perfect world, a subframe that can be aligned and welded, was what I was thinking, taking the guess work out of the operation. Kit-ish, but only taking the thinking out of it.
 
Admittedly, I need to get rid of the huge muffler/water heater tank under my rig, but until I do, I don't have room to run a 3rd link over there (I don't think).

Discussed with a sub frame producer through the course of the weekend, via email, who crawled around under an 80, to say the narrowing frame rails, obstructions, and lack of potential market negate his interest in anything beyond custom, which had be back under mine, trying to figure a way to route the exhaust, because even the little muffler is in the way, now.

Can't see how or why any relinking of the rear would be proposed without the addition of COs, therefore the coil buckets and supporting would remove, hopefully freeing space....but where would COs go?

New subframe from the beginning of the straight rails back? Bent around COs above the axle?

It all poses challenges, to say the least.

The subframe that Don fabbed started making more sense, when looking at the big picture, but even with a pan, looks like it'll hang low.
 
This was why I tried my damndest to come up with a design that didn't require any upper links to go past the existing factory x-member. See end of page 23.

4wu runs the coilovers behind the axle, no? We could do that if we ditch the track bar
