Ever since installing my LeCarra wheel back in 1992 I've always wondered... "Does anyone else perform this totally unnecessary but none the less interesting upgrade on FJ60's & 62's"?
I've always enjoyed the feel of a wood wheel since driving Healeys and Triumph TR-6's in the 1960's & 70's. Someone is bound to chime-in and comment " How can you possibly go offroad and enjoy the struggle of a replacement 14" wheel down from 16" OEM"? The answer is simple..."my offroad forays are few and far between". Has anyone changed out their wheel and what are your thoughts?

I put this in mine a few months back, I'm still getting use to it mine is a 360mm. I wanted to put in the 91-93 FJ80 wheel but couldn't find a clean one.

Went the other way. When I bought mine 14 yrs ago it had a wood wheel. Went back to stock after a few years, and like it better.

I've considered swapping mine out, mostly because my stock one is starting to get 'sticky' from baking in the sun. Unless I can figure out a way to stop/reverse that weird sticky feel, I'll have to swap to an aftermarket wheel

Nardi's are sweet. Just grab a hub adapter and you're all set.

I keep going back and forth on getting one. Might do it to keep the stocker clean.

My 60 had a grant wheel that the PO had installed. I was dead set on swapping it back to stock, but ended up liking the thicker grip surface. The stock wheels always felt kinda small for large hands.

I ended up just dressing it up my spray painting the chrome satin black and added a TEQ horn button I found on eBay.

For my 60, I got this TOMS wheel a few years ago, and installed my steering knob I got while in India. I'm totally happy,
the large leather wheel is smooth and comfortable. I traded the stock wheel to a guy for his unwanted NARDI
wheel, which resides in my BJ74. Stock 74 wheel is huge, and slippery - won't miss it for a second.

Really late response, but putting baby powder on it could help. It can precondition soft plastics and rubber. (Shifter boots also)

I am actually a huge fan of the large stock steering wheel....one of the many things that make the 60 series great imo. Just goes with the whole vibe of these vehicles and perpetuates a feeling of toughness and utility that is sorely missing in modern cars. Anything else seems out of place in one of these trucks to me. To each their own however. I can kinda understand how the stock wheel may feel small and flimsy in big hands. But it works for this type of vehicle. I actually always wanted to see about swapping mine out for a 40 series wheel. But for my money the stock size is just perfect. My 2 cents.

I agree, I like the stock wheel in my 60. I do like the older 40 wheels as well.

I like the diameter of the stock wheel but I'm always bumping the horn in tight situations. It's a bit embarrassing honestly. Anyone else have this issue?

I love the stock wheel on my '80 pickup. Thinking it would be a nice upgrade if I can find a spare.

I do it all the time too. That's the one thing on the stock wheel I am not a fan of is the horn buttons. Wish it has some kind of center horn button setup. But would not trade the wheel for aftermarket.

I really like my stock wheel but the coating is loose and rotates. Hopefully I can find a fix for it.

Get a hypodermic needle at the local drugstore. If that is not large enough or strong enough to get thru the vinyl, to the steel, go to a ag supply store - feed store, southern states, etc, and get an equine hypodermic needle. Put some super glue in the needle and inject it. Get some of the slower setting super glue, so it doesn't set up while you are transferring and injecting.
