BTW, don't disconnect the existing seal on the hard lines. they get more difficult to seal up over time.

Ooh got it. Yeah I don't want to open a bigger can of worms than I already am with the dash removal.

No, they don't. It is not the correct heater core.

what makes it wrong? I see its out of stock right now...

I can't "see" any difference but the part numbers are the same from the two different web sites and the pics look identical...even with the one side tube that looks deformed.

Guess I'll find out and see what happens on my 86

The reality is, none of the aftermarket is actually going to have most of the correct types of things all of us want.

Toyota spoiled us.

And none of us bought the actual things that we really wanted when we wanted them.

And now that they are gone we are upset. The fact of the matter remains there are a number of iterations out there that we can salvage.

You just now have to search for them.

The left one is the stock one. The right one is the one Rock auto sent me.

You get yours a while ago?

yes my "new" core has been sitting on the shelf for a while... here is what I have...the blue things are just plastic plugs that came with it...and I

I stuck my o rings on there so I could keep up with them. These pics are showing the one I received from rock auto a few months ago. Their web site shows out of stock...but the pn listed there is the same from the oriely web site. Most likely someone is just stamping their brand name on some part sold wholesale.

So are we at the point of having to get someone to build the heater cores from scratch?

Depends on your level of OCD and wanting to keep a Denso heater core in your Land Cruiser.

People will have differing opinions on this.
I haven't removed mine so I cannot speak to what would fit in the housing. I would like to replace the heater core and don't care as long as the fit is decent and the quality of the product very good. Any suggestions?

Orilies auto is where I just got mine. It fit very well.

the next option was to have a heater core made. But that was going to put me out of pocket like $300. THe one I got was about $50. It's brass and seems to be (at least superficially) the same general quality as the one I removed.

@Mace do you have a part number from Oreilly that you got?

I would call the store. See if.They can find one.

Anyone know the difference between the 60/62 heater cores? -- Part #s are different and can't find any good pix of the 62 core online....

FWIW, all those aftermarket cores (Murray, etc.,) are prolly Spectra Premium 94658 - which is a good all copper/brass unit, but they list the same part for 60/62 :hmm:

ok any tips on this job (heater core swap). My dash is about 3/4 of the way removed and I see the heater core...hoses removed from the engine compartment side.
