FJ55 Radiator suggestions

So I'm in need of a new radiator for my 9/72 FJ55. I took the old one (and another that I salvaged) to a local radiator shop and was told they are too far gone to be recored / repaired. As with everything FJ55, I'm not seeing much out there for options.

Haven't found recent posts on this topic so wondering if any other pig owners have found another option or conversion they can share.

You keep old 1s for dimensions?? Champion makes them. Someone was discussing this a short time ago. Forget who.

still got it. I saw Champion has radiator for fj40. Thats a good option.

This is all that’s left when they disassemble the radiator. Have you tried another shop? I’d have a hard time believing it was too far gone? Unless the side straps are rotten what’s to go bad? The tanks are brass.
To be upfront though… I’m about $1200 into keeping a stock look in my truck verse an aluminum.
Between recore and purchase of a used radiator.
Dennis in Wyoming is parting a few early trucks. I bet he has a radiator that could at minimum be used as a core. He is in the classifieds.

That Mosley is a nice looking radiator, and the price seems pretty standard to me. I just had to have a custom built radiator for the BJ74. They used the top/bottom tanks and built with a new core and it was still $750, and that wasn't aluminum.

I found it to be a situation where I wanted to drive my truck and I needed a radiator that fit. A factory fit is always better. The only thing I found my business situation helping with was fetching the parts after it was stripped and cleaning them my way. I tried a used one and it wasn’t install ready.

You can still get an OEM radiator from Toyota last time I checked. They're about $300-400 from your local dealer 1640049356

At quick first glance and without measuring that calls out FJ40 as fitment. Totally different unit.

Sorry, my bad, answered before coffee. Yes they are different. For some reason was thinking for a 45 not 55.

I have to agree here. A good radiator shop can fix just about any radiator. Find the oldest shop in town. Preferably with old people working in it.
I've had my radiator recored twice.

This ^^ is wonderful advice, I had first my gas tank & then my rad done by the old boys locally, and wasn’t that pricey really.
