has different number of teeth on the Engine side.

and underneath, looks like it may have setup for crossmember mount
or
you can count the output splines

spline count is different between splitcase and 1 piece case

the top cover is earlier, but all that can be swapped between transmissions

I think the output shaft is 19 but I will count on Tuesday when I go to the warehouse

looks like a 81-84 4 speed H42, if US spec
split case transfer needed
not much value in that piece
the top plate is an earlier 40/55 series from the mid 70's

My guess is this came off a FJ60. Someone doing a V8 conversion on a 74-80 switched top covers to move the shift tower back. Because of the location of the reverse light switch not sure the split transfer case would even bolt up. There were far few FJ40s imported between 8/80 and 9/83 compared FJ60s imported between 8/80 and 4/85. 4/85 a dummy spacer was added to the four speed to match the length of the H55F five speed.

Should add 8/80 the tail shaft spline count went from sixteen to nineteen which is why a split transfer case is needed.

Because of the weight your probably looking at a local buyer. Having to delete the reverse switch to mount the transfer case isn't going to help either. Would determine if it's a H41 or H42. Would also remove the top and post pictures of the inside of you put up for sale. Best market is someone who is looking to keep their post 8/80 four speed which is tired but has a good top

Anyone need it? Is it worth $300.00?
IMHO, no
I sold 1 for $50 a few years ago, usually they go to scrap when I take a load to Pacific
they usually last a long time and don't fail often

I like them for going into pre 74 40’s, dual upgrade 4-speed and splitcase.
