Yeah back then it was mandatory to have one fitted to the rear of the vehicle. I wish I had kept the LHD. I actually lived out at Uluru for 6 months.

i work the Cape a bit and the Straits,might have to drop in,wont have the cruiser with me as im carrying gear for this job but generally travel like this

Few of my 68.
First is probably the oldest I have. When thru a divorce in the eighties and don't have many pictures. This was in Lake Tahoe summer of 75. I'm the ugly one on the left. The 68 and I have gone thru many changes over the years. I think even though it's sitting in a garage waiting a clutch it's still faired better than myself.
Second is early eighties. I put it on it's side later in 75 while still in Lake Tahoe. That is a 73 replacement hard top I picked up for $225. Area is a place called Dry Lake hills just north of Flagstaff. It was closed to vehicle traffic late in the eighties is now just mountain bikes.
Third is shortly after the last picture and I had installed vent windows into the top. Area is close to the last picture.
Fourth is late eighties. Added 79 doors in 83 and painted it around 86. Area is north Phoenix called P4W (Phoenix Four Wheelers) which was built by that club. Shortly after the picture the state sold the land it was closed.
Last picture is in 94. I had just purchased my 73 FST and used the bows and doors with a new Kayline top I bought from Man-A-Fre. This is Bow and Arrow around Sedona.

Yes that is a OEM bezel. That one was given to me. Showed up in the mail one day. A bother in-law gave up on his 61 hard top project and mailed me the bezel had no idea it was coming. Over the years I managed to pick up a couple more without breaking the bank.

Mate I bought it when I lived in Alice Springs. My brother in law at that time was in the US Air Force and there was quite a few yanks there who were in the Air Force due to the detachment which was located up there. They used to bring their vehicles over and then sell them off when they got transfered out. I nearly bought my brother in laws 351 Ford Bronco but decided the 40 was nicer.

As you can tell from the photos- my Dad was not too precious about the ToadThe fact that the Toad is still alive is a testament to Land Cruisers, not to my Dad's being precious. It is nice of you to say that about the photos Tom, but it simply isn't true.
Here are a few more: which only look a bit better than yours, Tom, because I was fortunate enough for my Dad to have used Kodachrome. More importantly though, my Cruiser has never been flown anywhere; THAT takes the cool-cake
First is my Mother and I on Engineer's Pass in about 1974, second is in the Tetons in Wyoming, third is up above Ward, where we lived and fouth is on Pearl Street in Boulder before they made it a foot mall.

Back when we were young and crazy 1985 in Tijeras, NM
Found a few more pics today. Same vehicles just different shots. The brown and white pig is playing in the mud up around the forest area in Kuranda. The Maroon and Silver pig is up around the Bloomfield track north of Daintree and my old faithful 76 LHD towing our 23 foot caravan. I think from memory this was taken along the Great Ocean Road.
