Hi all… First just joined, (first time forum member period), Just purchased a 66’ fj40 that was a stalled project. It currently has a 350 sbc that seems to be mated to the factory Toyota 3 spd and TC. Working on De-“previous ownering” it before moving forward. The plan/hopes are a 5.3 swap and undecided on tranny/TC. The truck is solid but missing a LOT of parts. Budget build but willing to spend the right money in necessary areas. I’m new to forums so forgive me if there is plenty of threads on this that I missed. I am looking for any detailed info or other threads on swapping a 5.3 or 6.0 in these fj40’s. Here's my thread on going from a 283sbc/SM420 to a 5.3L LM7/SM420. The big game changer for me was finding the motor mounts that placed the Vortec in the exact same location as the sbc. This allowed me to re-use the motor mounts which really accelerated the project. Hope this helps.
