I Googled this "Poly Pro III" material and I am skeptical. I do not mean to dog something I have not personally used but I have bought enough stuff from them and have been disproportionately disappointed. With boats the only material I have found to work well and stand the test of time is Sunbella.

PolyPro III™ fabric - Google Search

Here's one of the links where they are advertising covers of this material for most cars for less than $40. CCoT is more than twice that and I don't think it's because it uses 2X the material or is 2X harder to make.

Don't let me poison you. Buy one and let us know how it fits, performs and lasts. I would gladly pay $100 for a durable, quality cover.

I had one that was made for an old heep of mine and it fits my 40 fine.

i bought a 40.00 heep cover from walmart...works just great...real lightweight and sorta easy tohandle...

I bought a very similar product two years ago from J C Whitney for a Jeep that gets parked outside in central Northern California. It lasted less than a year, couldn't take the heat. Material rotted out and the inner layer (of three) disintegrated, leaving a powdery residue over everything. It wasn't claimed to be Poly Pro III, but it sure looks the same.

i hate to admit it but i own one. bought it about a year ago and i am happy with it. but my cruiser is in a shed and i mainly use it to keep the cat out. you can pull it tight around the bottom and she cant get under it.

yeah right, but i got the sale price

Does anyone know if the one that Nick shows for Walmart, the polypro III for the heep fits the hardtopped '40 w/spare?

Thanks, Dan

Got mine from 4wd.com. Here ya go take your pick.

Mine is only used on rides when we get some rain so I can't speak for the durability for long term use.

Later,

I got that same one from CCOT and would say I'm happy with it. It doesn't fit perfectly, but does the job for me. Seems fairly tough and has elastic on the front and back which makes it pretty easy to pull around the tires. I did notice it doesn't really "breath" since I put it on after a light rain and the water was still there a week later. That said, the instructions clearly stated to never put the cover on a wet car.

Also, my FJ sits pretty much in the shade so I can't speak for the sun degradation, and that walmart one does look the same.

I went with California Car Cover . Spent the extra money ($400) hoping it will provide better protection and lifetime. So far I am very happy. Fits perfectly. If you have a taller rig due to larger tires, suspension lift, roof rack, extra antenna etc, be sure to let them know as they can build a cover that will fit. I went with a better material, the Superweave. I bought it in March 2009 so it has not seen winter yet, but has kept the FJ40 dry during heavy rains and is holding up to the southwest USA sun very well.

Yeah I am wondering about the sizing of one for an Ehsan top as well. It should be pretty similar in size to running the hard top. I like having the bows on but only run the soft top a couple months out of the year. Moving to a new place that doesn't accomodate my truck in the garage. For the money the Wal Mart one looks pretty good. Quadratec has some nicer Jeep cover for about $100 that claim to be "waterproof". I guess I will end up buying a full cover for Dec-March and probably just a cab cover for the rest of the year.

We made a few covers a year or so ago and sent them to the US. There are pictures here somewhere on a dedicated thread. Will dig it out.
