Dan,
Your top is looking great. what did you do for a cooling fan?
Thanks Joe
Yes I am just planing to run a stock size 3 core alum Rad and a electric fan. Are you having any cooling problems on the hot days?
Thanks Joe
I have not had my engine temps over 185.
I am running a stock FJ 60 Radiator, stock FJ 60 fan with fan clutch. Many people running 4BTA's do not even run a fan since the engines run pretty cool.
problems start when you haul a long hill with any load. The 4BT runs cold at first... but then the heat just keeps building and building and building. Ask me how I know. Worked on 3 4BT80s that ran hot, I upgraded the cheesy electric fan to duals... then to a Taurus fan, then dual continental fans, then tore it all out and bought the biggest rad Griffin would build (that fit) (1.5" tubes), and a mechanical fan, plus a tight shroud. Now it will only get a little warm on long up hills (ie: Donner Pass with pedal down). On the others we used a flex-a-lite fan (only because it would bolt to the stock pulley) and the third we slapped on the Giant 6BT mechanical fan.
for a hint.. look at a modern Dodge cooling system... Way overbuilt.
Your set up will probably be ok... long as your truck isn't very heavy. And it's nice that it's easy to find replacement parts for. And it's Toyota, sorta.
I forgot to mention that I'm running an FJ 60 shroud as well.
I have not had it up over any real mountains yet.
