fo shizzle, you should come out to the biggest pimpin cruiser get together of the south.:grinpimp:

Dan!!!! I've enjoyed watching this build and this is by far my most favorite rig on the site. Sorry to the others, yours are cool too but this one takes it for me. If I send you a blank dvd or 2 will you load the pics onto it? I want the full size large format images. I can send a return label and such. Gotta have more pics/videos!!

Dan did you get your fuel issue hammered out? I read the act post , what was it fuel sensor or what?

Had crap in the fuel tank and plugged a few fuel filters.

My fuel gauge stopped working so I kept topping off my fuel tank. Grease Cruiser gave me some Bio Diesel to try. It smelled like french fries, lol.

Rob and Roger found a hole in the rubber portion of my fuel line. Finally found it on day two or three.
I don't know how much leaked out the cut fuel line. I used/leaked/spilled (during fuel filter changes) approximately 32 gallons of diesel during the entire trek. I guess that would embarass a gas gussler that burned 18 gallons a day. lol

Dan,
Your top is looking great. what did you do for a cooling fan?

Thanks Joe

Yes I am just planing to run a stock size 3 core alum Rad and a electric fan. Are you having any cooling problems on the hot days?

Thanks Joe

I have not had my engine temps over 185.

I am running a stock FJ 60 Radiator, stock FJ 60 fan with fan clutch. Many people running 4BTA's do not even run a fan since the engines run pretty cool.

problems start when you haul a long hill with any load. The 4BT runs cold at first... but then the heat just keeps building and building and building. Ask me how I know. Worked on 3 4BT80s that ran hot, I upgraded the cheesy electric fan to duals... then to a Taurus fan, then dual continental fans, then tore it all out and bought the biggest rad Griffin would build (that fit) (1.5" tubes), and a mechanical fan, plus a tight shroud. Now it will only get a little warm on long up hills (ie: Donner Pass with pedal down). On the others we used a flex-a-lite fan (only because it would bolt to the stock pulley) and the third we slapped on the Giant 6BT mechanical fan.

for a hint.. look at a modern Dodge cooling system... Way overbuilt.

Your set up will probably be ok... long as your truck isn't very heavy. And it's nice that it's easy to find replacement parts for. And it's Toyota, sorta.

Rigs weighs 6,800 empty

I forgot to mention that I'm running an FJ 60 shroud as well.

I have not had it up over any real mountains yet.

While participating in the 2010 ACT, The engine temps got to 185 but that was after the beaver pond crossings. Blew the beaver fur out of the radiator and everything is good. I have been to the mountains a few times on some long roads and still does not get hotter than 185.

exactly the same as my 01 2500 CTD 4x4 when it had 33's on it and me driving with around a 1/4 tank of fuel.

Awesome thread Dan. Your photos, linked elsewhere, are much appreciated. Whatley's requirements of big tires and lockers for this event makes perfect sense when considering the river crossings necessary in the Alaskan interior. Looks like alot of fun. I may have missed it, but do you have plans to return?

Its gonna be a pimp then!

What turbo are you running? and how big of sticks you gonna go to?

Reading this thread is a real inspiration for my Custom 45..
