500i is on the market now, most shops out here can't keep them in stock.
I run the MS-462 with zero complaints.
You're not talking about too much of a price difference for a lighter saw with a big increase in power.
Hmmmm. Not sure I want to mess around with the FI(lol). Although leave it to you to get me thinking about the 462. I really like the power of my Husky but love the way it spins up fast. How’s the 462 with that?

From what I've been hearing all the guys that run saws for a living are trying to snatch up all the FI saws now, they all rave about them.
I run a 28" bar on my 462, no issues at all getting it spooled up, I'm sure with a shorter bar it would run like a rat on crack. I originally was looking at the 362 before I picked up the 462, it was all based on weight/power/price. I felt I got more power per dollar at the end of the day with the 462, it wasn't that much more at the time. Keep in mind I generally only get into larger pines and fir, nothing like oak or walnut. Not that the 462 would have any issues.
The snow has been hanging around here in western Virginia for the last two weeks. Glad I built the wood shed a few years ago tall enough to dump the trailer or dump truck

I saw some videos recently of a 500i going through what looked like 24" hardwood trunks like I didn't know was possible. From what I saw it is stock. Very very impressive cutting performance there.

My wife and I went and got this oak on Wednesday, we know someone at a 50 acre horse ranch that lets us cut. A third of the wood was already cut, and we just threw it in.
I cut the bigger pieces off of trunks, someone with a smaller saw leaves the trunk.
I brought the splitter to the bigger ones, it’s easier. I can’t get the trailer to the woodpile right now, splitting them first makes them light enough to easily put on the wagon. This stuff is already dry, that’s a good thing about going to the horse ranch.

Burn it outside during the summer to add to the smoke.
It deserves to be USED. At least sell it to someone who will use it. Unless 'scrapped' that beast will still be around 500 years from now (if not left outside to rust down).

Curious why the back-cut below the face-cut? (saving as much butt as possible for the log or it just happened). ?

Humboldt cut, that’s what the loggers do. They say two reasons 1. Better control of the fall 2. Less waste.
