I’m pumped Roma is on the way up this weekend, secured all the parts, everything is ready. Should be driving by Sunday if all goes well

Awesome Bryan!!! Sooo cool. Good luck.

Well I had a few set backs with parts but thanks to Jim Johnson in Texas and Steve at ebi I have everything. I pulled the motor today, I still can’t believe how clean this truck is being 30 years old. I had a moment of just rebuild the 2f and keep it as is.

Pic should be the definition of clean in Websters. Throttle shift link boot looks as new from factory. Clearly mint.

That's what my 1984 Fj60 looked like when I got her in 04 with 48,000 miles on her.
Too many mods to want to list

Great looking rigs brother, nice find

Where did you find it?
How many miles.?

Looking forward to your impressions of the 12ht coming from a 2f. Down the road I'm thinking it's between a 12ht and R2.8 for me so looking forward to watching your progress and thoughts.

My plan was to put the 2.8 in this truck, but after I bought it and got it home I decided to keep it all Toyota. I even thought hard about rebuilding the 2f. But after many conversations with Roma, CD and Jim(TX) i am going the 12ht route because it was an option for this truck. I have a non-Toyota drive train 62 with the GM motor already so this made since for me. I drove Roma's truck for about a day with the 12ht. My impression was that it had enough additional power over the 2f that interstate driving/hill climbing was not a struggle and you get twice the fuel economy.

i will say that cutting off engine mounts that have a fresh looking factory paint job hurts my soul though

The 2.8 does seem interesting but the design obsolence basis (the run time components are designed for before they fail) in this motor is yet to show itself. We know how Mr.T thinks of design obsolence...solid. Jury is still out on the 2.8. Chinesium components are the worry.

Like how you preserved the old mounts for someone to reuse later should they choose. Clean install. Love the workmanship. That rig with 12HT will be amazing. :bounce::popcorn:

Finished welding in the new mounts today but also putting everything that came off the truck in a box, old mounts came off clean

Just an update motor is in, fit’s a little tight to the fire wall but i think everything should work fine. Now i just need to start at the back and work my way forward to hook everything up. All seals are replaced and valves were checked everything seems to be good.
