Finally!!!! Saginaw PS pump conversion kit for FJ60s!!!!!

I'm excited and about ready to pull the trigger on this I just have a few questions:
From you I get the adapter bracket with hardware, Pulley and Belt.

As far as modifying my existing PS bracket: Is welding required or is it just grinding? I would want your instruction with that.

After several google searches on the 1985 Volvo 240 I still haven't found a new/rebuilt Volvo Saginaw Pump with cap and reservoir. I would love a link or two to merchants with models of the Saginaw that would bolt up to the bracket and stock hose lines.

Thank you for working on a bolt on kit for this conversion.

@Mark has come up with some instructions which I'll be happy to email you.

I've used Duralast pump #7023 works great. It's a GM unit not Volvo.

The bracket requires some simple cutting/grinding. No welding!

Yes I have the pulleys in stock for $29 plus shipping.

Hi Georg, what v-belt size is that pulley for? As you know, the yota pump pulley is for a B-size (5/8" wide belt) which shares with the crank and water pump. The Sag pump is more commonly supplied with an A-size pulley like most GM's did back then. What I had to do was bore out my yota pulley and add setscrews because the Sag is a press-on style and has no keyway slot. I searched all sorts of places for a 3/4" ID x 5.5" OD pulley for B-size belt but came up with nothing.

Hey Georg
On the current PS bracket, what needs to be altered?

Never mind I need to learn to read.

The domestic "A" pulleys and belts are 1/2" wide. Toyota, Volvo and others use metric 14mm belts, not "B" which are 5/8" wide.
We use the A pulleys and belts on this setup and they've worked perfect.
On the earlier harmonic balancers we've seen issues with the A belts bottoming out in the 14mm pulleys but that hasn't been an issue with the later units.

Thanks. Not trying to be a smart ass here, just stating the fact that a size B (5/8" belt) is closer in dimensions to a 14mm than size A...1/2"(aka 12.7mm) ;)

Not that this has anything to do with the topic at hand ........

1/2" is 12.7cm
5/8" is 15.8cm

If a B belt is 5/8" then the difference to a 14mm belt is 1.8cm
I ban A belt is 1/2" then the difference to a 14mm belt is 1.3cm

So if you ask me, then the A belt is closer in size to the 14mm belt than the B belt.

sorry, I had a feeling you would take it that way. yes, I understand conversion.
so most people who like to save money like me will decide to use a type B belt in general than pay a higher price for a 14mm one. Type B belts fit better in the stock crank pulley imo than A, not just belt width but also depth. Since I did a total desmog, I am able to run the exact same belt (length too) for both my alt-water-crank & ps-water-crank. The B belts are just beefier imo, more readily available and when it comes to wheeling, I'm always leaning towards beefier (especially when running 35/37" tires). Sooo, to explain my statement about being closer in dimensions, what I meant was my current B belts are closer in dimension to the 14mm pulley than a type A belt. ;) I've been on this thread a long time and had help from tons, given help to many and you and I have even done business together (if you remember our smog components deal years ago). I think what you are doing for our community is fantastic, your quality of work is great and this product/kit is amazing and exactly what we need! Sorry if it seems I've hi-jacked the thread, I've just been really digging into this ps pulley/belt combo thing for some time and I've always wondered. I figured you were the man to ask so thanks for your input! carry on!

Thought I'd update this thread with some pics of the required factory ps pump bracket mods.

Here's the stock bracket with some markings as to where things need to cut and ground down.
