Amsterdam is perhaps one of the most functional and equitorian cities on the planet. Sydney and Vancouver are also VERY expensive mostly due to chinese money laundering!!! God, I loved the city but its cost is insane! the average going price per square foot is 1-2 thousand dollars. LOTS of empty homes in vancouver caused by the chinese!!! they leave these million dollar homes empty, or allow a student to live in them. MONEY laundering is a HUGE issue in Vancouver and the rest of the region. the BC goverment started to crack down on it in 2016. GORGEOUS city! Cannot recommend it enough but dam, it will break your bank accountLike in most city’s prices go up in the right neighborhoods and surrounding towns. For new buyers it is almost impossible to buy a house now. As money is loosing its value people are investing their money in bricks which results in even higher prices. Even in during the current situation prices have been going up.
we live fairly close to the German border where prices are a lot lower which helps to contain it a bit. Places like Amsterdam are totally crazy.

Thanks for the props.Michael, when we get to The End of the World as We Know It, I would like to be your neighbor. I would pedal your bicycle generator (that you could doubtless build out of spare parts and scrap) so that you would have power to run your machine tools and rebuild civilization.
Have you ever considered expanding your work area to (offshore) wind?
