I need to expand it to something. This current down-turn in the industry is the worst I've ever seen in this 39-year career. I have some experience in ground water, but there is no money in that. Maybe mining geology, since the need for lithium and other metals, and rare-earth minerals will increase exponentially with the demand for electric vehicle batteries.
Any experience with geology of seabeds?
Offshore wind wil take a serious role in the future and knowledge on that side of the ocean is limited, early adapters wil play a big role in a short time. We have seen it here in Europe.
 
Started with the next phase for the mill, the screen.
I ordered 5mm Lexan and started making a frame for it.

The frame will be made from 3 pieces, one fixed center piece and two folding side pieces.

The side pieces wil be positioned just behind the center piece to prevent having a gap between them.

I‘m using rubber to prevent the Lexan to get in contact with the steel of the frame.
Just to be sure there is no hard impact on the edges.

Looking at adding a metal trim piece on the edges that are not covered by the frame.

This is the bar that is going to be connected to the linear guides on the mill.
It has to withstand the weight plas the torsional loads. It wil be telescopic and there is going to be a bearing at the pivot point between bar and frame. Due to the dynamic load on the pivot point it needs sufficient preload.

Next is making a hinge point at the bottom of each side panel.
 
Trying to figure out what the best way is to make the hinge points at the bottom.
In the mean time I got side tracked for a little side project.

My blasting cabinet was not working the way I wanted so I decided to change the hand gun from suction to gravity feed.
these are the items needed for this. I will document the proces here.
 
Amazing.....and, brings back such great memories from my dad. He was a tool and die man from England. He brought us all over to US in 1969 based on a job offer in Kansas City, Mo. He proceeded to create the KC Tool and Die Company. I grew-up with countless gizmos, inventions and machines he created in his basement shop and the company shop.....Thanks, this stuff makes me smile.

Made the hole in the valve on the bottom.

Made a treaded hole in the cross pipe and screwed the ball valve in it. Then screwed everything together.

Mounted it to the bottom and added the hose. This picture shows the hose connected to the gun, the one on the tray.

Now for the results, I need about 60% air and get twice the speed in blasting.

Everything together will be about 10kg.
Once this is finished I can order my linear actuator to finish it all up.
 
I have been collecting parts for the controls of the new additions for the mill.
these are the pneumatic parts.

At the back of the tower the top curves forward with a 22,5 Degree angle, I want to fabricate a box there to house the pneumatic switches.
Here is the box and what is going in it.

Looking at them I decided it would be better to remake the switch box on the mill instead of adding one.

For the air box, made a bracket for the draw bar switches And fitted the main and misting switch.

Welded the box and drilled holes for hoses and wiring.

The hoses for the draw bar come out of the top for short distance an low interference.
