You’ve got to love it when your band saw cuts this straight.🤓

And on with the bottom and top plate.

Just to give you an idea of this setup.
I drilled and tapped 3 studs in the top cover To attach the construction too.
Added 2 nuts to each stud to lift it all above the cover.

Here are all the parts, well almost, for the drawbar setup.

I wanted to combine the activation of the cylinders with the wrench but I might change that to seperate circuits. That way I can use the cylinders in tandem. I’m using manual switches now but if I change to electrical switches I can switch the 2 circuits with one button For loosening and one for tigthening.

Building it together.
First allign the guide rods.

This is the switch for Operating the drawbar.

This is a system that allows me to adjust the height of the wrench without changing the guide bars.

One cylinder is not strong enough to push the wrench down enough, I tried wit two simultaneously and that works perfect.
I ordered a seperate switch for the cylinders and 2 bigger cylinders and will decide what to do when they are in.

Like in most city’s prices go up in the right neighborhoods and surrounding towns. For new buyers it is almost impossible to buy a house now. As money is loosing its value people are investing their money in bricks which results in even higher prices. Even in during the current situation prices have been going up.
we live fairly close to the German border where prices are a lot lower which helps to contain it a bit. Places like Amsterdam are totally crazy.
Amsterdam is perhaps one of the most functional and equitorian cities on the planet. Sydney and Vancouver are also VERY expensive mostly due to chinese money laundering!!! God, I loved the city but its cost is insane! the average going price per square foot is 1-2 thousand dollars. LOTS of empty homes in vancouver caused by the chinese!!! they leave these million dollar homes empty, or allow a student to live in them. MONEY laundering is a HUGE issue in Vancouver and the rest of the region. the BC goverment started to crack down on it in 2016. GORGEOUS city! Cannot recommend it enough but dam, it will break your bank account :(

Finished the quill DRO.
Turned a piece of Pom and mounted it to the back of the measurement head.

Got some tool steel to make the new jaws for the vice.
These are the hard jaws, I also made some soft jaws from alu.
To get the patern on the clamp face I used a small round nose Mill.

It takes a lot of time but is rewarding when finaly done.

Back on the mill.
changed the setup on the draw bar, the pneumatic cylinders work both ways on a second switch now With the wrench on the first. Not sure on the location yet but this works for now.

Placed the wrench back on it.

And cleaned up the switches.

I will finish and test it tomorrow.

Awesome work man!! Love that install.
Thanks, I’m going to add a a misting cooler and make both electrically controled.
It is fun to try new things.

Working on the next upgrades.
I’m going to ad button controll for the drawbar, a misting cooler and an actuator controlled screen.
This is for the buttons.

The pneumatic switches below the control box are going to be disgarded and changed for electrical operated ones that will be positioned in an other location.

Michael, when we get to The End of the World as We Know It, I would like to be your neighbor. I would pedal your bicycle generator (that you could doubtless build out of spare parts and scrap) so that you would have power to run your machine tools and rebuild civilization.

Thanks for the props.
I think we would get along fine.😉
I would love to help you with your house.
Have you ever considered expanding your work area to (offshore) wind?

Have you ever considered expanding your work area to (offshore) wind?

I need to expand it to something. This current down-turn in the industry is the worst I've ever seen in this 39-year career. I have some experience in ground water, but there is no money in that. Maybe mining geology, since the need for lithium and other metals, and rare-earth minerals will increase exponentially with the demand for electric vehicle batteries.
