More paint/crud removal this morning. I'm still using stripper today, since all my abrasive got wet in the latest storm. Hopefully it'll be dry tomorrow for blasting. The bed overall looks pretty good. I'll have to repair rusted through holes at the mounting points and a couple of spots where water collected in dents in the midbed. The front mounting points on the wheel wells are also rusted through and will have to be fixed. The back end of the bed, right in front of the sill, will have to be repaired as well. It was dented during it's work truck days and collected water until it rusted almost through. I may as well fix it while I'm fixing the rear sill. Careful not to let it be a neverending project. I'm hoping we'll be on the road by spring.

By the shape of frame yours is worse than my 73. Which it not near as nice as my 68 and 70.

I decided that the bed was bad enough that I just needed to buy a new panel. I'm waiting on its arrival. I bought a new gas tank from CCOT. I test fitted it and it looks good. I bought a used fuel vapor separator off ebay. The charcoal canister looks like the original, so I'm not sure how functional it is. A year appropriate aisin carb (these is an old sticker on it that says "remanufactured") in place, which will most likely have to be rebuilt. I may have killed the air compressor. I'm waiting for parts for that, too. While I'm waiting to get back at it, I found this awesome Christmas shirt yesterday.

That red fuel cell was one of the first things to go after we drove around the block a couple of times and parked it. The kids have to ride in that spot. I already bought a steal oem repro tank. Yours sounds like a really nice option, though.
Btw, I found this sticker in the old service manual I bought. Is it one of yours?

We haven't made a lot of (visible) progress on the FJ40 project since before the holidays. Yesterday, I took the carb off and I finished it this afternoon. This thing was filthy. I'm hoping I did everything correctly. I took a ton of pictures and retraced my steps. I watched pin head's you tube videos before I started, which were helpful even if it's a 2F instead. And I finished without any leftover parts, so that's a good sign, right?
