Keep us posted as you hear John, and if there is a decision for a group gift/message to be sent. Our prayers are with Eric.

Holy crap, that is very serious. If it's viral, it's not as bad...cases of viral usually are less acute. If it's bacterial, that's another ball game.

Taylor and I will be thinking of you Eric! Hang in there!

Update from list as follows;
Sorry guys, I have been out of the office all day. I talked to Cristin this morning and she said that Eric is in 8105 at EAMC. He is on a two hour morphine regimen, so he may or may not be able to visit with you. Also, there is a risk of contraction through airborne mist, and the hospital put a sign on the Eric's door warning of this.

Long story, Eric had bad back and neck pain on Saturday and Sunday it was worse. Cristin couldn't get him out of bed, and forced him to go to Auburn Urgent Care. They told him it was a virus and gave him pain meds. Sunday night Eric and Cristin went back to AUC, because Eric was beside himself with pain. AUC accused him of trying to get pain meds and prescribed vicadin, then said that if he wanted more to go to EAMC. An hour later, they were at EAMC and Eric was vomiting. He was admitted quickly, and a spinal tap was done. Cristin says the nuse doing the Tap said "oh my god" and told the other nurses to come see. Eric has bacterial meningitis, not the viral version. No word yet on which strain of bacteria he has, but it's not likely to be the "killer" (48 hrs) strain.

I told Cristin to call me if there is any update, and that I will relay everything to you guys. She has Eric's Phone, but she sounds really worn out and tired. btw, there is a vaccine for this, and Cristin has had it, so she should be fine.

HOly crap! I had no idea about this. He was considering going to Morris Mtn with us last weekend, but I never heard back from him prior to the trip. He was mostly concerned that his damaged cruiser would not be ready in time. Our thoughts are with him. THanks for sending the care package marshall.

that really sucks. A buddy of mine just came out of the hospital yesterday from viral meningitis....he was in the hospital for 6 days. He could not stop vomiting....

good luck..

He needs to get to UAB immediately, or at least get a consult. I would not trust the doctors in Opelika. They can helicopter him if it is an emergency.

Good luck, Eric.

Best of Luck with it Eric. I'm hoping for a quick recovery.

We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
