Ebc brake pad ? (1 Viewer)

Searched rather long, I saw that they used them but none ever really said if they would use them again or of they were worth it, etc.

I'm on my 2nd set of EBC greens on my 93. I run EBC in everything I own from green to red stuff on a road race toy. green dusts like factory BMW pads, but stop really well. my only gripe is that I only get about 15k out of them. (Tons of stop and go)
 
The whole brake system was flushed when I installed new calipers on the rear and EBC's at all four corners. It's wasn't the performance but the fade after driving through winding mountain roads downhill.

Do you downshift for the downhill sections? Lots of folks don't realize it should be done the same way you would in a manual transmission rig.

Last month I did 2500 miles in my rig from Phoenix up thru Colorado and Wyoming. I did not have any brake problems on any of the mountain passes, and I do drive a bit aggressively. I have been accused of driving my 80 like a rally car. I ran all of Pikes Peak in low range. Lots of power for going up in 3rd and 4th gear, and lots of compression braking going down. The Park Rangers check your brake temperatures at mid point on the way down, and my front rotors were at 85 F degrees. By using compression braking I save my brakes for when I really need them.

After I realized how hot and slippery the brakes were getting, I then started downshifting. That alone made a huge difference. I didn't think the driving we were doing would have overwhelmed the pads so quickly.
 
I'm running yellows up front and greens in the back with cryo'ed slotted rotors from stop tech. Works awesome.
 
I recently switched to EBC green and new Toyota rotors. I like them and they have performed well over mountain passes here in Colorado both on and off road. Previously I was running OEM 100 pads. I will be staying with the EBC pads when the time comes for replacements.

Followup: EBC greens are awesome. When your rear brakes aren't participating because the LSPV is out of adjustment, the fronts will get overwhelmed. I've replaced the LSPV with a union and the brakes are fantastic. We did the same mountain trip as last year and I experienced no fade.
